Know Your Limits

When you feel yourself fading, stop drinking.

Being a college student is no joke. We have exams every week, a copious amount of papers to write, boring articles to power through, whilst, for some, also working part-time, so when we happen to be blessed with a day that encompasses none of those concerns, it is highly likely that we will gather a group of friends together, and drink our stress away. I mean, it is no surprise to anyone that drinking is part of college culture, and most times it's all fun and games; you get obliterated, dance your heart out, and then somehow end up safely in your bed. Thank you to all of the Ubers and beloved 'mom friends' who take such good care of us vodka induced drunks, and for not leaving us slouched over a sidewalk somewhere; five-star service for sure.

As great as it feels to drink your body weight in vodka-sprites and beer, it's important that we keep in mind that we aren't immune to the effects and damages that alcohol has on our bodies. One, two, three drinks are perfectly okay-just try to not act too stupid-but when you stop counting the number of shots you're taking and instead begin to count the number of times you've fallen over and stumbled over yourself, that's when you should put down your drink, and pray your friends are ready to take care of your drunk self.

There is nothing, not only more embarrassing, but terrifying than not having control for your own body and mind. As dramatic as it may sound, alcohol possesses us and turns us into creatures who think themselves to be indestructible both emotionally and physically. When this possession happens, we make decisions that no doubt will be regretted the next morning, and so as you sit there bathing in Gatorade and Tylenol, remember your superhuman abilities include pulling all-nighters, devouring a copious amount of fried foods, and sleeping in class, yet when it comes to drinking, we are the Robin's of the world, so don't go jumping off buildings and thinking you can fly like Batman.

Personally, I have not had the best memories when it comes to alcohol, and I'm embarrassed to admit that I have a hard time sensing my limit, which has always led me towards painful hangovers, and unthinkable mistakes. Every time I would drink, I would think that I was capable of handling a large amount of alcohol, but reality hit, and my hangover hit harder. I cannot stress enough how important it is to know your limit, to know the magic number of drinks you can have before your night turns somber; especially in college. Not only are college students drinking every weekend, but with drinking season coming up, holidays such as Christmas and New Year have a tendency of turning into ragers fuelled with tequila shots and eggnog.

It's always okay to have fun but make sure you do it while keeping your own safety and well-being in mind.

Happy Drinking!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
