The infamous crossover of Square Enix and Disney making "Kingdom Hearts" — which was first released back in 2002. The long-awaited video game is almost in our grasps and "Kingdom Hearts" fans like myself can barely contain the excitement.
If you’ve never heard of Kingdom Hearts before, here’s a quick summary:
It’s about the balance of light and darkness and using a weapon that looks like a giant key. Also, sometimes, Mickey Mouse shows up to help while Donald Duck is useless as a party member.
There’s more to it, obviously so if you’re tempted to play the game, I would suggest taking advantage of the PS4 and purchasing the three games: "Kingdom Hearts" 1.5, 2.5 and 2.8.
Now, if you are a fan and you have played at least one of the game or even just watched the cutscenes online, you know that there are whispers throughout the game community of what to expect for "Kingdom Hearts 3."
Warning spoilers for "Kingdom Hearts" 1.5, 2.5 and 2.8 are below. If you would like not to be spoiled by spoilers — I would suggest leaving this article and catch up. If you would like to be spoiled with spoilers, proceed.
Here are the following predictions that may or may not be in the game or reveal:
1. The Olympic Coliseum will be a ‘Hub’ world in KH3.
In every Kingdom Hearts game, there is always at least one world that is the hub. It is considered the hub because Sora can go and stock up and prep for the journey to the next world. In the case of KH2, Twilight Town and Hollow Bastion was considered a hub world throughout the game. At the end of 0.2, Yen Sid makes the comment that Sora and the gang have lost all of their abilities and that they need to retrain to be heroes again. In KH2, Sora and gang finally became true heroes. No doubt, since dream drop distance Sora and gang will need some help.
2. The player will get the opportunity to play as Riku and Kairi and Sora.
In Birth By Sleep, the player is allowed to pick which character they would like to be to play the game. It is recommended to go in order so the player can understand the story: Terra, Ventus and Aqua. With KH3, the player may have the opportunity to switch over to as the other character as it relates to the story, or it maybe set up like Birth By Sleep. Many fans have expressed the importance and the desire to play a character in the Destiny Island trio other than Sora.
3. Aqua is saved by either Riku or Sora or both of them.
In 2.8, we learn that Aqua is still trapped in the darkness. Now, Riku was sent to go and find her. Most likely, Riku will be successful in saving Aqua with Mickey since he has an immunity to the darkness and an official keyblade master. Yet, in the beginning, credits for 0.2, it shows Sora reaching into the water with his hand in reach of hers. It is probably foreshadowing Sora’s help in guiding Aqua back to the realm of light. It's quite possible it will take two heroes to save this keybalde master. One thing is confirmed—Aqua will have at least one person saving her from the Realm of Darkness.
4. Some of the members of Organization Thirteen will help while others will hinder the process.
While I would love the fantasy of Saïx changing sides and helping everyone’s favorite players—it’s doubtful. I do believe that Xaldin, Zexion, Lexeaus, and Vexen will help Sora and friends since he ‘sorta’ helped them out. At least once, Sora will have to fight Xenhorant or at the very least, Saïx and Xigbar. In Dream Drop Distance, it was confirmed that Saïx and Xigbar are part of Xenhorants plan to make this dark keyblade master immortal. Saïx and Xigbar were one of the difficult battles to encounter upon. Hopefully, it will just be a simple battle but with battling with Xenhorant's darkness buddies--one can never be too sure.
5. New worlds will be introduced that haven’t been revealed in the trailer.
I would like to think that ‘Moana’ and ‘Frozen’ will be in KH3, however, since the movie script for the game was finished in 2013 — it’s doubtful. I predict that ‘Lilo and Stich’ make a world — since Stich was used as a summon for "Kingdom Hearts" 2 and additionally, Stich’s world was used in Dream Drop Distance.
While there is probably more, I don’t wish to spoil anyone anymore on what to expect in the KH3 universe. Sometime in 2018, pick up KH3 and be prepared to cry. This game franchise is more than just a way of entertainment — it’s like a family.
