I have never been a huge fan of the Kardashians. To each their own, but it's always bothered me that they became famous off of not much. However, since gaining fame, all of the women in the family have flourished and created successful clothing and makeup lines, and done many things that not most people could.
Last Monday morning, Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in her hotel room at the No Address Hotel in Paris by five men dressed as police officers. She was gagged with duct tape and tied by her wrists and ankles and locked the bathroom. She was badly shaken after the event (as any normal person would be), and has yet to comment much except to say that she thinks it is her fault for being robbed because she had been posting snapchat stories about her new jewelry she had received.
As always, people on social media tend to be able to speak their mind about topics without really thinking about what they're saying, or how hurtful the things they say actually are. Here are some of the mean tweets pointed at Kim after the attack

@SkyNews @KimKardashian should have gone the whole hog and finished her off aswell. Can't wait for Kanye too make this about him 🙈Just to mention a few. Let's take a timeout for a second and think about this. Say your best friend or mother or daughter or wife was robbed at gunpoint in a foreign country. Would you respond to say that she deserved it? Even if your family was wealthy, would you think the person being robbed should have been? Of course not! So why does society find it acceptable to say these things about someone who IS a mother and IS someone's best friend and IS someone's daughter? All human beings, regardless of what they've done, what wealth they have, deserve to be treated with respect.

Even worse, Kim has been quoted saying that she feels the robbery was her fault. Posting about your newly acquired material items does not give anyone an excuse to rob you. Just like being a woman and wearing clothes considered to be "too revealing" does not give a man the right to rape you.
An important issue that I think isn't really being mentioned is how much worse the whole thing could have been. Kim Kardashian was lucky to escape with her life. She could have been raped, or even worse, murdered. Men in society do not understand that most women are terrified of even being alone with men in a potentially SAFE setting because there is the risk of being assaulted by them. I cannot imagine the fear Kim felt of knowing all of the horrible things those men could have done to her. Who cares if she's rich and famous and Kim Kardashian. She is a woman who was held at gunpoint, tied up and robbed. Stop trying to justify it. It wasn't okay. She is human like the rest of us. Remember to think about that before you say something mean about her.
