As most of us already know, Kim Kardashian posted a risqué photo on social media recently. To not much surprise, the world went crazy and it seemed as if everyone had something to say. Among the people talking, several celebrities had some things to say about the controversial photo.
While there were some who had bad things to say, there were also many celebrities who responded in Kim's favor. Kim Kardashian did not take the criticism quietly. Soon after the backlash, she went to social media to blast a few critics while, at the same time, she continued to flaunt what she had.
As this "issue" continued to evolve, more aspects were starting to come to light. Eventually, this just wasn't about a photo, it was about the war on the female body and the concept of feminism.
There were, of course, celebrities who seemingly attacked the Reality TV star about the photo that she posted. One of the first to attack was Bette Midler. Midler tweeted, "Kim Kardashian tweeted a nude selfie today. If Kim wants us to see a part of her that we've never seen, she's gonna have to swallow the camera." Another celebrity who was on the defense was P!nk. The rockstar posted a lengthy message on both her Twitter and her Instagram discussing how women should use their talent to get noticed and not their bodies. She then brought up the aspects of pride and self-respect when instances like nudity are concerned.
Chloe Moretz was also among the people who looked down upon Kardashian's latest post. Moretz went on a small Twitter rant which included, "@KimKardashian I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than just our bodies."
In the midst of the controversy, many fellow celebrities came to Kardashian's defense. From Demi Lavoto to Ariel Winter, Kim Kardashian had a huge amount of support from all corners of "Hollywood." She also seemed to have a huge amount of encouragement from two unlikely sources: Amber Rose and Beyonce. Beyonce wasn't very public about her opinion, but an inside source close to her stated, "Bey thinks Kim's crazy talented because she is a money making machine and has the internet and the media eating out the palm of her hands."
On the other hand, Amber Rose was much more vocal and public with her stance on the situation. As mentioned before, P!nk seemed as if she was very against Kardashian's post. Rose had her own response to the lengthy message. Amber Rose replied to P!nk with, "If a grown mother of 2 is comfortable with her body and wants to show it off that's none of ur business or anyone else's. Now, if you wanna talk to kids and be a mentor to young teens, tell them to go to school and to not use their bodies to get ahead?! I'm all for it! But please as a grown woman let another grown woman live as she wishes."
While all of this chaos was going on, Kim Kardashian sure did not leave the haters with the last laugh. Kim decided to have her own Twitter rant and, at the same time, she posted another nude photo! Kardashian sure did not seem to be phased by the latest backlash and she wanted everyone to know.
After much debate between fans and celebrities alike, it seemed as if the photo that was posted wasn't the issue, but more of an example. More and more people brought up aspects of the old argument, "Why can a man do it, but not a woman?" and other various similar issues. It is no secret that there is a double standard when it comes to the sexualization of men's and women's bodies.
For years upon years, both women and men have been fighting this unfairness. It seems as if in recent years, feminism is needed more than ever in today's society. People are so quick to judge a female for posting a nude photo rather than if a man did the same thing.
Many people also mentioned that women need to stick up for each other instead of tearing each other down. It is crazy to think about how one nude photo caused an uproar which resulted in a huge debate about the war on the female body and feminism as a whole.
