Content Creation is something that has taken on different forms since the dawn of the social media age. With websites such as Medium, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and a host of others, there are different ways of reaching out to different crowds. However, there are a number of fundamental guidelines that apply to creating exciting content for anyone on any platform. Below are a few steps that I and many others have put to the test in becoming better content creators.
Develop Your Identity
In being successful as a social media personality, it is essential to know who you are and what you are trying to present to the masses. Without having this base to build on, you are essentially planning to build a piece of real estate without a blueprint. By developing a purpose, you will find it much easier to create content. Once finding your purpose, it would then be prudent to begin constructing your accounts in a way that makes them synonymous with your passions and the content you are looking to present. Be sure to educate yourself on what content is trending and see if any trends are in line with your goal. Knowing who are makes it easier for others to understand who you are, therefore establishing a connection and a consistent flow of traffic down the line.
Discover Your Audience
For every category of content there is a relative audience that is associated with it. If one is attempting to directly reach musicians, there are a set assortment of hashtags that one can use on websites such as Twitter and Instagram that those in the realm of music will likely search and use for the optimization for their own audience; therefor, by using these very specific connective tools one has the ability to reach the desired group of individuals and appeal to them directly with content they are likely to appreciate.
Strengthen Your Weaknesses
For many people, there are social sites that people are active on more frequently than others. For you, that may be Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, or any other outlet. Simultaneously, there are sites that one may not be as active on and therefore not as successful with. A technique I have used to bring up my presence on social media outlets that I may not be as successful with involves taking a few weeks to focus primarily on a specific account. In the building of my Instagram account, I spent 7 weeks focusing specifically on Instagram while maintaining my presence on the other outlets I was active on. I was able to increase my following in that time by several thousand and triple m average amount of likes per post. This strategy increased my Instagram account’s traffic far beyond what I expected. I have recently shifted my focus to my twitter account, having increased my following by 20% in 18 days. While paying a significant amount of attention to this particular account, I have not neglected my other accounts and my presence in those other societies has not dissipated. By combining this particular step with the other steps previously mentioned, I have been able to increase my presence on social media and become a much stronger content creator over the past year. These are steps that are simple, can be simplified further and have been proven to be efficient.
