Keeping Up with One Direction

On October 31, 2015, One Direction played their final show as a group. It has been ONE FULL YEAR without One Direction.

One Direction played their last show of their fourth world tour, "On The Road Again", in the city of Sheffield in England. After four sold out world tours and four blockbuster albums the band has essentially split and gone their separate ways.

This inevitable breakup began around March 25, 2015 when Zayn Malik left the band. He left during their tour, leaving so many fans upset that they would not be able to see the whole group ever again. Zayn later explained how he needed to leave the band and that he was not into it anymore. He expressed on Twitter how sorry he was and how he still loves his fans.

At this point, One Direction fans were worried about two thing; whether or not Zayn was pursuing a solo career and what the remaining members of One Direction would do for the rest of the tour.

Well both of those questions were answered. Ironically, Zayn released his first solo album, "Mind of Mine" on March 25, 2016, exactly one year after leaving One Direction. But as for the rest of the boys, they made sure that they continued the tour and gave fans the best experience.

Once the tour had ended, fans were sad but then were filled with joy when realizing there was still one album left for One Direction to release. "Made in the A.M."

One Direction had released their first single without Zayn, "Drag Me Down," on July 31, 2015 which was a smashing hit. It was on every radio station across the country. But after this song fans could sense some tension between the band and former bandmate, Zayn.

This new song was a tease at the new album they would release in November 2015. Fans went crazy during the release of "Made in the A.M." and the boys were so excited by how beloved their new album was. But the joy, quickly went away as fans began to realize that there would be no tour following this album.

Many music videos were released for songs like "Drag Me Down," "Perfect," and "History."

When they released the video for "History" fans knew that this was the end. The boys went their separate ways, hoping to pursue individual careers.

In the past year, there has been much drama surrounding these boys, even Zayn. Harry Styles acted in a movie and was seen dating Kendall Jenner, Louis Tomlinson had a baby with his former girlfriend Brianna Jungwirth, Liam Payne has been hiding in the shadows, and Niall Horan has been hitting up golf courses, soccer fields, and writing his own knew music. He released his first solo single "This Town" recently, which fans love. Lastly, Zayn has been engaged, then not engaged to Perrie Edwards and then now he is dating a supermodel, Gigi Hadid.

A lot has happened since the last time One Direction performed in front of their fans and many fans miss their favorite boys and hope that sometime soon they will reunite and maybe play another show.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
