On Monday, April 5th, Kappa Kappa Gamma had the pleasure of hosting Purdue President Mitch Daniels for dinner. President Daniels arrived in style, of course, on his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He received a warm welcome from Kristen Quick, KKG President, Emily Deremiah, a member of KKG in the junior pledge class and family friend of President Daniels, and house mother, Mom B, who even wore a fringe jacket to fit the biker theme (pictured below). President Daniels’ sister was a Kappa Kappa Gamma, so, I mean, he might as well be a legacy.
Kappa’s chef, Jose Guiterrez, prepared only the best of meals for this special occasion, serving a plethora of good ol’ American-style grub. The KKG house and President enjoyed slabs of ribs (the messier, the better, right?) mac n’ cheese, Portillo’s style salad, and corn on the cob. President Daniel’s met the master chef himself (picture below). Apparently this is the President’s favorite meal, which his wife may or may not have made a similar meal the night prior. But, hey, when do ribs ever get old? Colleen Clennon, a junior in KKG, says about the President, “The President gets what the President wants, and he wants baby back ribs.” Well, there you have it.
After the President said a word of thanks and hosted a quick Q&A session, the entire house followed him outside as he sped off again on his Harley. With all due respect, President Daniels pulls off the badass card extremely well. Bravo Mr. President, bravo.
Of course, the night couldn’t end without the essential house photo. Mind you, majority of us had trouble walking after that meal.
One more very special thanks to President Daniels for coming to spend an evening at Kappa Kappa Gamma! Come back soon!
