Happy G.O.O.D. Friday everyone! If you aren't aware of what G.O.O.D. Friday is, Kanye West has announced that every Friday he will release a new track to give his fans something to hold themselves over until his new album "SWISH" releases on February 11, 2016. In honor of G.O.O.D. Friday, I'm going to give you a few reasons why constantly listening to Kanye West has changed my mindset.
1. Develop An Alternate Ago
Back in my high school days, I use to keep only to myself, or the people I was close to. I broke out of my shell at age 20 and became a social butterfly when I started to actually listen to Kanye West's music rather than what the media says about him. Once I became more outgoing I developed the name Deezus, similar to West's album Yeezus. Deezus is my scapegoat, he fears nothing, he's a risk taker, a ladies man, a smooth talker, someone I turn into when I'm too scared to do something as Devin.
2. Hate Me or Love Me, I Don't Give A F*ck!
Yeezy doesn't care if you don't like his attitude, his music, the outrageous prices of his clothing line or simply him. Kanye is going to continue doing him. That is something I've emulated from him. For the longest time I was so worried about being popular so people would like me, and I NEVER asked any girls out on dates due to my phobia of rejection. I learned not everyone is going to be your friend and you can't make everyone like you either. People are going to label you as this or that to bring you down. You know who are, so have the mindset of the title for bullet number two and be better than them!3. Can't Tell Me Nothing!
This right here is why Kanye West is one of my favorite rappers of all time. This man made a song telling the world you can tell him literally nothing! I may come off to some people as conceited or self-centered, but life is to short and I'm trying to enjoy it with or without you; so either you move with me or move out of my way. I feel like I can be anything I want to be in life, no girl is out of my league, and nobody can outwork me. Ever!
4. Who Are Your Real Friends?
How many of your real friends text you to see how you're doing? I hate when someone text me "Whats good fam?," and I say "Nothing Much." Then they have the nerve to ask what's the move for the weekend, but bruh; I haven't seen you in months, you can't just view my snap chats or Instagram post and see that I'm having fun and decide to hit my line out the blue because you're bored! Kanye throws some major shade to his so called real "friend" in his new track for G.O.O.D. Friday, titled "Real Friends."
5. I Always Go H.A.M.!
Everything I do in life I do it hard as a mother*cka (H.A.M.). Playing basketball, my frat-star style, or better yet partying in Buckhead (you seen my snap chats). I've been chosen as social chair for my chapter and you better believe that I'm going H.A.M. throwing parties for us!
