6 Things That Prove Kansas City The Best City In The Nation

When most people think of major cities they think New York, Chicago, LA, Denver, San Fran etc. Well, you should add Kansas City to that list.

In recent years, Kansas City has really hit the map. KC is the 19th largest metropolitan area in the U.S. (http://visitkc.com). Home to thriving businesses, great eats and some of the friendliest people, Kansas City is a fantastic place to be.

Here are some reasons why Kansas City rocks:

1. Bustling nightlife

Whether you spend the night bar hopping in Westport, enjoying happy hour at the Power & Light District or wining and dining on the Plaza, you are sure to find action every night in KC. Tucked in quaint neighborhoods you’ll find amazing food and KC Boulevard beer at a local joint.

2. Innovation

This city is always improving. In the past year Kansas City City Council approved a multimillion-dollar agreement with Cisco Systems Inc. to make Kansas City a Smart City. As a Smart City, KC will use a public Wi-Fi system and incorporate innovative technology to the public downtown along the new streetcar line. Oh yeah, Kanas City is building a streetcar. Which is awesome.

3. Food (the most important part)

No, but actually the food in Kansas City is incredible. You will never have a hard time finding an incredible burger, burrito or BBQ burnt ends. If you have one day in Kansas City go to Joe's Kansas City (previously Oklahoma Joe's) and order the Z-Man sandwich. You can thank me later.

4. Culture

KC is beyond rich in its culture and weekends are never boring. Spend a Saturday at the City Market and a Sunday afternoon at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. In Kansas City the first Friday of each month is spent in the Crossroads Art District. First Fridays include great food, endless entertainment and unique art. Kansas City truly has a culture of its own.

5. Shopping

Three words: Country Club Plaza. The Plaza is home to over 180 shops and restaurants and is set up in a unique outdoor setting. From stunning jewelry to designer jeans, the Plaza has it all. When it gets cold you can head to Oak Park indoor mall in Overland Part, KS. Don’t worry, you can always shop till you drop in KC.

6. Professional sports

BLUE OCTOBER BABY. Kansas City breeds a very special type of sports fan. The people who call KC home are die-hard Royals, Chiefs and Sporting KC fans, through good seasons and through bad seasons. In case you haven’t heard, Arrowhead Stadium is officially the loudest stadium in the NFL. I bet you’ve never seen MLS soccer fans like the people in the Kansas City Cauldron at Sporting Park. Home of the Royals, Kauffman Stadium is filled with enough Kansas City pride to give even out-of-towners the chills.

We love you Kansas City. You will always be Royal.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
