I’ve been a fan of Justin Bieber’s for eight or nine years now, and I have had to learn some things from it during this time. Yet, I still haven’t ever been to one of his concerts. It’s sad, I know. I’ve always wanted to be the one less lonely girl that he pulled up on stage. I know you can relate if you were a fan since middle school too! Here are seven things you have learned from being a Justin Bieber fan in middle school.

1. It helped you learn that you can’t please everyone.

You learned this very quickly. Ever since you confessed that you did in fact like Justin, you have been teased. For me, especially now that I am in college and still like him, the teasing never stops. Just be you and don’t worry about what other people think.

2. Sometimes you can be ahead of the game.

Honestly, I used to pretend I hated Justin Bieber when I was in middle school. Then all of the other girls started to like him and I said I did too and had liked him for a while. Whether they believed me or not, if I had just stuck with it from the beginning, it would have all been fine in the end. That goes back to the first point of not worrying about what everyone else thinks of you. Sometimes, you're ahead of the game when it comes to celebrities.

3. Puberty will happen eventually.

And oh, baby, was it good to Justin. If you have seen videos of him singing the same song through the years, you will surely be able to hear the difference in his vocals. Also, Justin went from “I’ll have your daughter home by 8 p.m.” to “even your wife calls me daddy.” If that doesn’t show you that puberty works, I don’t know what will.

4. Your memorization skills are impeccable.

You spent countless hours over the years memorizing every word to Justin's songs. Not to mention all of the facts about Justin that you know (Justin Drew Bieber was born March 1, 1994 at 12:56 a.m. on a Tuesday). So, thanks to him, you are better prepared for memorizing material for exams in college.

5. You know how to overcome differences with people.

Some of your friends don’t like Justin Bieber. (Surprising, I know!) Because not everyone liked him back in my middle school days either, I know how to let that difference go. True friends aren’t worth losing over that.

6. You learned to turn down the fangirl a notch before you got older.

I had SO many Justin Bieber posters all over my walls and doors, and I know you did to. It was just a tad crazy. Good thing I grew out of the fangirl phase after middle school because that would be weird now. At least I’m not one of those fans who got a tattoo of his face on my leg. That’s going to be there for the rest of your life (I mean, unless you get it removed, but that HURTS).

7. Memories can last a lifetime.

You have so many memories because of being a Justin Bieber fan in middle school. You and your friends, of course, had so many times where you turned up his music and danced around. Funny story, when Justin movie, “Never Say Never,” came out, I paid my friend $1 to shout that she loved Justin. (She actually didn’t like him but was going with me so I didn’t have to go alone.) I know you've made tons of memories because of Justin that will last through your adulthood; share some in the comments!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
