Warner Bros. recently released a trailer for the new Justice League film that will come out in theatres November 17, 2017.
Those of you that know me know that I’m a Marvel fan. Why wouldn’t you be? The Universe only gets better.
Except some aspects (cough, cough, Spiderman!)
But no seriously, I finally looked at the new Justice League trailer.
And it was freakin awesome. It was nostalgic.
I’m also a DC comics fan. Usually, people are forced to choose sides in the comic world but I’m one of those individuals that you can’t force to do that. I grew up on DC comics, I lived for those late nights watching these cartoons with my dad and brothers. This was literally my elementary and middle school life: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman Green Lantern and his show those clichés.
But I absolutely did not play when it came to Justice League. That was an unstoppable team. When it comes to this series I’d prefer to watch the characters animated, it was just something about the animation series (both JL and JLU) that made it feel more real. (Ironically.) When comic fans it’s always that fear of whether or not the director that takes up the challenge to portray 2-dimensional characters into real life would fully capture everyone that takes a part in the film. It’s hard to take the time to develop all the characters into one film to start out because they’re all such dynamic heroes.
If you’ve seen the trailer, you know that it leaves off from the Batman vs. Superman movie where Superman is ‘laid to rest’ after sacrificing his life for the people in the city to show that he never went rogue or intentionally tried to hurt any civilians for sport. Batman and Wonder Woman talk at the funeral yada yada conversation builds Wonder Woman talks about ‘people like them.’ Thus, Batman’s curiosity is peaked of these extraordinary individuals that can help him stop crime bringing you the birth of a beautiful series 5 months later. The Justice League trailer starts out with Aquaman (Jason Momoa), introducing his character following up with Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and Flash (Ezra Miller), all tracked down by Batman (Ben Affleck). The only problem that was seen with this trailer with some JL fans was that Green Lantern was not involved in the plot of this film.
I’m not trippin. I’m giving this a chance. Who knows, they might have more movies in the making and they might add more characters. In fact, they would have to.
Well actually no they don’t have to, but you should get the idea of what I’m saying here.
From what I remember, the lineup was: Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, Hawk girl, Green Lantern Flash and Martian Manhunter. Not in that order. Of course, not everyone remembers it that way: The Justice League is a team that interchanges so most likely we’re going to see our Green Lantern. It just so happens that the previous Green Lantern is now busy stuffing his face with chimichangas and pancakes and making superhero landings on the other side of the comic book.
And doing a damn good job of it.
So if the director really wanted to find another Green Lantern, he’d have found one. Right now I think Zack Snyder’s just testing out the waters. Besides I’m hoping that they don’t incorporate Hal Jordan that they cast a John Stewart instead, I don’t have anything against Hal Jordan I just like John Stewart’s character more.
We’ll just have to wait for June 14th 2019.( For the sequel)
Most importantly, I’m hoping that this director doesn’t disappoint me. I’ve been wanting to see good DC comic movies and Batman vs. Superman gave me hope.
