Just Run Towards Your Future

Running away is also running to.

People always say that running away is a bad thing. They say that if you run away, you are just hiding from all your problems because you can’t face them. Going along with this, they say that your past is always right behind you.

We know that. We know that our past follow us and that we can’t escape it. They follow us for every second of our lives. We have learned this fact from personal experience, or people telling us or the books we have read. We are well aware of the fact that we cannot run away from out past.

But here’s the thing, running away can also be running to. Running away means running forward and life is about moving forward. By running away, you are running to something that you can’t quite see yet but is right over the horizon. You are running toward your future and all that it holds: success, happiness, love. The future is yours, so I say run to it.

Your past is still right behind you. That fact hasn’t changed and it never will. But sitting in the same place, not moving, not running, isn’t helping you at all. You’ll have to face your past eventually, and you will whether you want to or not, but that doesn’t mean you can’t move on from it and run towards something else.

Run towards your future because it’s yours. It is yours to create, to change. You can’t change your past, so go and make your future what you want it to be. It’s all in your hands. You have the power. You have the control of your situation.

Sometimes that control and power can scare us, but it is the most empowering thing in the world. The concept that we can decide what our future holds is terrifying but it also holds the key to accepting what has happened in our pasts.

Your past will always be there, so you can always go back and deal with it later. But don’t let your past be leaden weights on your heart. Don’t let it keep you from following your heart and chasing your dreams.

Cut the chains of the weights and run. Run to your happiness. Run to your freedom. Run to everything that the world has to give to you, as long as you work to own it. Run. Run. Run.

Just because you are running, doesn’t mean you are running away from all the things you have done in your past. It means you are running towards everything that awaits you in your life, in your future.

So run. Run like the wind. Run like there is nothing holding you back. Let the wind whip through your hair and the adrenaline run through your veins. Run with your arms wide open and a smile painted across your lips. Run to the person you want to be. Run to the catch the dreams you are chasing. Run to find happiness in the world. Run. Run. Run.

You aren’t running away from you past, because you will face it one day. But you are running towards your future. You can’t live your live standing still, so lace up your shoes and hit the pavement. Just remember, run to something that will make you happy and proud in the end.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
