I love living and being from New York. It is such a wonderful place and there are so many things to do. However, I hate when I tell someone I am from New York and they assume a few things about me.
1. That I am from New York City
When I tell you that I am from New York, please don't assume that I am from the city. Not everyone in the state of New York lives in the Big Apple. Granted, many people do, but I am not one of them.
2. That I live in farm country or in the mountains
When I say I am from upstate New York, don't assume that I live in the middle of nowhere. Not all upstate New York is farm country or the Adirondacks. Other places exist too, ya know?
3. That I have a strong New York accent
Just because I am from New York doesn't mean that I have to have a strong accent. Some people do, but not everyone does. Yes, I pronounce all my letters and no, I won't say a word again for you because you heard me say it weird.
When I tell people I am from New York, I hate when they assume these things. It is like a pet peeve of mine. Watch out people and stop assuming!
