So it's your Junior Year of college. You're absolutely unaware of what you're getting yourself into and its scary. You start to think about it a little more, one single year after this one left and then you are an adult. And soon enough you'll have to find yourself a spouse and build a real life in the real world. So this summer while you're sitting on the couch watching How I Met Your Mother, listen to Ted carefully because he has some words of wisdom for us soon to be Juniors.
1. If you can't find the "Parent" of the group...
So you're nearing adult hood, and even though you're all still going out on the weekends there is always that "Parent" figure in the group. So you look around and see your buddy face deep in the toilet, another trying to hook up with that tree and the other passed out in a snow bank and you realize... You are the parent.
2. When you realize you only have another year left...
Ted took the words right out of your mouth. You have to start living in the moment, because before you know it you'll be settled down in a little house with a spouse instead of throwing up in some random persons bathroom in their little house. It goes by faster than you think.
3. That bar means a lot to you.
That bar you go to every Thursday night means a lot to you. And you know that in just two short years you may never enter that bar again. It may become a long forgotten place. That corner you threw up in every time you went, and that server you hit on every time you went as well. It will all be gone way too soon.4. You start to become aware of your debt...
There it is, staring you in the face and laughing. This pile of debt you have built up and are just planning to add to. It hurts more and more every time you look at it. It is easily the scariest thing you've ever seen.
5. As a junior, you've learned to power through.
Alright, this one isn't Ted its in fact Marshall, but seriously it just applies so darn well. You've been beaten down, dragged through the mud and kicked in the groin by two years of college classes and tests. You know the drill now, and you know exactly what you have to do to make it through each day in order to get back to your room and take a sweet nap.Relating college to a television show is seemingly always done, but there is a reason. Ted Mosby and the occasional Marshall quotes speak to us like no other. We are Juniors, half way through college and we have both learned a whole lot and nothing at all. But hey, lets take some chances and when those go wrong lets take a nap.
