Whether or not you agree with the ending for "How I Met Your Mother" (no spoilers but I'm still pretty mad about it), Ted has a lot of good insight about life. Like many college kids, Ted is unsure about his future but he knows how to let loose and have a good time, make questionable decisions, and regret most of it the next day.
1. Making plans
No one in the group chat can decide where they want to go and the one person usually calling the shots won't answer. It's ironically very stressful to plan to go out and get away from your stressful schoolwork.
2. Getting ready
You have found the perfect outfit to get you out of the house. You're feeling yourself whether or not your friends approve of your style choices. You're definitely not pulling off red boots but if it gives you confidence don't let anyone stop you.
3. The pregame
You finally made it to the pregame and you want to
4. Annoying your Uber driver
Even if you might not realize it at the time, your uber driver might not enjoy you and your friends loudly rapping to drake or singing along to whatever is on the radio.
5. Socializing
Walking into the party is pretty awkward at first especially if it's somewhere new but not to worry, you're wingman/woman has your back. You might not be the social butterfly, but there's one in every friend group and they'll introduce you to everyone.
6. Enjoying the party
You've had enough drinks to dance on the table and hug everyone you see, the awkward introduction phase has passed and now you're screaming the lyrics to Sorry in your tone-deaf voice.
7. Making bad decisions
Ted's best advice about going out is that "nothing good happens after 2 a.m." but sometimes he's a hypocrite and lets his bad decisions get the best of him. Happens to all of us.
8. Drunk eating
This may count as a bad decision depending on your dieting habits, but pizza and fries definitely don't count after midnight after all the dancing you've been doing and it's way more satisfying.
9. Contemplating your decisions
There comes a moment when you sit back at the end of the night or the next morning re-watching your Snapchat story that you start to deeply regret some of the choices you made and sit back for some self-reflection.
10. Recapping the night with your friends
You might have had a crazy or terrible night but you're never alone. Arguably the best part of going out is laughing about it the next day with your friends and even better if it's over brunch.
