On March 17th, 2017, a man by the name of Jonathan Grant was a passenger to a devastating car accident in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Petty Officer Grant earned his Navy SEAL trident in 2007 and served his country on three oversea deployments. At the time of his accident, Jonathan was serving as a combat medic instructor at Fort Bragg. "The only easy day was yesterday" is the Navy SEAL motto and will be Jonathan's as he works each and every single day to gain back his strength and ability to perform the everyday tasks we all take for granted.
Jonathan Grant suffered a severe brain injury called diffuse axonal injury (DAI) forcing Grant into a coma. Jon's wife, Laura Grant has been with him for every step of the process. Jon is currently awake and in rehab for a solid year. The program Jon is going through is called Emerging Consciousness in hopes of Jon to fully emerge back on top and he is currently on the right track.
Each day his improvements have gotten slightly better. Laura constantly feels the emotions of the situation. To see her fight, how she's there by Jon's side every single day, helping him to emerge shows how truly strong she is. The love and patience she has for Jon is undeniably strong. Everyday is a battle, a new battle each time, as Jon learns new ways to emerge and end up back on top.
Each day Jon makes positive strides towards consciousness and becoming more aware of certain things. Each day brings ups and downs but Jon continues to fight in the right direction. It breaks my heart knowing this happened to him. It breaks my heart seeing him continue to fight and fight to get better. This man has left me speechless. He is doing something many would have already given up on. He is not giving up, he is showing the world that just because you get brought down, doesn't mean its over. Stand up, take a stand, and fight. Jonathan Grant, you are my hero. No matter what someone has been through, you give others a reason to keep fighting, to never give up and we thank you for that.
Jon and his wife Laura need your financial support so Jon can once again employ the willpower and determination to emerge on top.
Laura made a gofundme in order to help pay for this recovery process for Jonathan. If you want to follow his story, follow Laura on Instagram: laurabpilates. Every couple of days, she posts his recovery and how hard he is fighting to get better.
We continue to trust in God and know that HE is in control. Everyday is a battle for someone, you fight, you bleed and sometimes you give up. Put your trust into God and keep fighting like Jon. Push to emerge back on top and gain the strength and ability to perform everyday tasks that we all take for GRANTed. We are not promised tomorrow, so lets fight today and hope we emerge on top the following day.
Prayers and love to the Grant family, I wish you the best and hope Jonathan comes back out on top.
