When I first joined the Odyssey staff as a contributing editor, I thought I was just pursuing this opportunity for the sake of pursuing it. I always had a knack for the English language, and I wrote in a poetry journal during my spare time. I longed to create and spread hip and quirky content for millennials like myself. But, at the same time, I wanted intimacy -- I wanted a community, not a company. So, when I saw a post in my university's Class of 2020 group encouraging students to apply, I chose to take the plunge, and let's just say that I don't regret my decision at all.
Odyssey is more than just a startup, or a "college newspaper on steroids." We seek to democratize the media business through a grassroots, bottom-up approach. You have the autonomy to write on whatever topic you want. You learn how to strategize and brand yourself. You can amplify your voice and let yourself be heard. And, lastly, you realize that you can make a difference as a college student with big dreams.
So, what are you waiting for? Apply now!
