JMU Career Fair September 25th and 26th (Mon. and Tues.) from 11am-3pm in the Festival Ballroom
The Career & Internship Fair is held once per semester and is an opportunity for you to learn about jobs and internships available, talk with employers representing different organizations, and network. Here are some secrets you might not know.
1. The LinkedIn photo booth
Stop by the LinkedIn photo booth to get a free headshot while you're dressed your best.
2. $1,000 scholarship
3. The fair is for internships too!
4. Recruiters are actually pretty fun to talk to.
5. They are hiring ALL majors
Employers are often recruiting students based on skills and personality that are a good fit for their organization. Half of the employers who attend the Career Fair recruit ALL majors. Do not eliminate a company because they did not list that they’re recruiting your major. Network with a variety of organizations and get the name of the hiring manager for jobs you’re interested in obtaining.
For the most up-to-date and info about the employers and the positions they're recruiting for, go to the Fairs page on Recruit-A-Duke.
6. What do I wear?
Whenever possible, a suit is a good choice if you want to look professional. It is always better to be overdressed than underdressed!
For Women: pants or skirts/dresses at least to the knee, styled hair, closed toe shoes, wearing hose is recommended, and removal of jewelry from visible piercings. Use of perfume should be limited or not used.
For Men: conservative shirt and tie, polished shoes, styled hair, and removal of jewelry from all visible piercings. Use of cologne should be limited or not used.
