Having Faith In College

He gives us his forgiveness whether we think we deserve it or not

Having Faith In College

Once I found my faith I didn’t realize how much effort it takes to hold onto it. But believing and loving are a choice. Without our continuous effort they will wilt and perish without our attention. In the busyness of college it’s easy to neglect our relationship with God. When your days seem to be more and more overwhelming it is helpful to take a step back and see where your relationship is with him. Ask yourself when you wake up in the morning is my heart totally God’s? I know that this isn’t a simple task living in a society that is relentlessly trying to pull us away from a God who is SO good, but here is the good news God is running after us all the days of our lives. So when life is heavy and burdens are too much to bare remember that he knocks on the door of your heart every day and all you have to do is let him in.

Lately, I have been feeling extremely disconnected from my faith and I couldn't for the life of me figure out why. I had a great group of people remind me that our relationship with God comes with spiritual highs and lows. Both of these things are equally important in growing in our faith. The truth is when you can’t exactly feel God in your life that’s when true faith comes into play, that is when your belief and trust in him is put to the test. Sooner or later he will always reveal himself but not always in the way you would expect #sneakyjesus. It’s impossible to know what he has in store for us but how awesome is it to know such a loving and forgiving God has planned every aspect in our life and no matter which way we turn he always has a plan to get us to where we are supposed to be if we simply trust in him. A lot of the time we don’t understand the purpose of what we are going though, why we are experiencing such struggle and pain. In these times he is preparing us, he is setting a cleansing fire to our souls. This fire prepares us to grow something extraordinary. We have the power to plant seeds in our life, God Trusts us to do this. He will help us grow the things meant for us, and he will help us see the things that aren’t because some seeds simply grow into weeds and God only wants us to grow and prosper the things that will add beauty and light to our lives.

This time in our life is SO confusing but I have the best secret to share with all of you. God knows us, he knows who we were, who we are and who we are going be. The only thing you need to do it trust in him, give your heart to him and “Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.”

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
