On Monday, October 16, Jessie J is performing in Paradiso, the pop temple of Amsterdam. The Netherlands has welcomed the British singer three times before and every time was a blessing. She has been away for a couple of years, but now she is back better than ever. And Amsterdam got a sneak peek of the new work during her promotional R.O.S.E. Tour.
The night began with two pre-shows, but I couldn't really care for them. I was awaiting miss Jessie J fiercely since I knew it was going to be a spectacle. And it was. Around 15 minutes late Jessie finally entered the stage and in a gorgeous outfit she belted out the hit single "Who You Are". Hits like "Price Tag", "Nobody's Perfect" & "Bang Bang" all came by, as well as new singles "Not My Ex", "Real Deal" and "Think About That".
The best thing about a Jessie J concert is the fact that she really interacts with her audience. She talks with them and listens to their stories, she tells stories of herself as well and it isn't some riddle she says every night. It really is genuine and she searches for the right words and connects it to things she has spoken about with the audience from previously in the night. Because of all this interacting and talking the concert took more than 30 minutes longer than supposed to, and I love that about her. She is so real and doesn't let the industry change her.
The best moments of the night, apart from the conversations, were her ballads, 'cause let's be real, she is strongest when she sings emotional songs. The opener "Who You Are", the beautiful "Nobody's Perfect" and the Pitch Perfect 2 soundtrack "Flashlight" all brought chills down my spine. The last song of the night, "Do It Like A Dude" was an amazing party and I loved every second of it.
I would have liked to hear some songs from her sophomore album, "Alive", since she didn't sing any of them. She does have some hits on it tho, "Thunder", "Wild" and "It's My Party" all did pretty well. But, as usual, most of the songs sung were from her debut album, her sophomore album wasn't being mentioned at all and her third album, "Sweet Talker", only added one song to the setlist. I do think she should change this up a little.
But, overall, see Jessie J live when you get the chance, you won't be dissapointed. I can promise you that!
