Following the disappointment of the election results, came a series of hate from one race to the other. It's to the point where many people are not safe to go to school or even go to class because they go to a predominantly white school (PWI). There are many cases where people have been assaulted because of the color of the skin, their religion, or their sexual orientation. It's to the point where some people are starting to kill themselves because they don't want to go through this sort of harassment any longer.
I'm going to let it hit closer to home, Bowling Green State University had a racist incident, perhaps several actually. There was an incident where a student here was wearing a certain shirt that would only offend trump supporters and she was beaten with rocks and fists.
Crazy thing is, as I was walking to the car with my friend, I saw three guys walking pretty fast to whatever destination they had to go to and quite frankly, BGSU still has not done anything about it. Usually, we would see Alert messages from the school when there is a threat on campus and not one student has received a message from BGSU stating that there are three white males throwing rocks are people who are for anyone other than Trump. But we sure saw an alert message when two black males robbed a store across the street from campus.
When everyone found out who was going to win the presidency, Twitter went crazy. There were kids my age saying their parents told them they were moving out of the country, some parents told their kids not to wear their Hijab the next day, and many parents told their children to stay safe because the world we live in is not safe at all. Being Black, Mexican, Indian, Iranian, etc., it's hard to be you in America. I tried my best to keep quiet on this situation but enough is enough. This is just as bad as a bunch of white officers killing innocent black people.
I am not safe at my school now that Trump will take office in January. No one of color will ever be safe now that Trump will be president. Bowling Green, Ohio has an active KKK chapter, that is one more reason to fear for your life here in BG. If anyone is in need of help or someone to talk to please don't hesitate to call someone you are close to. Some organizations are allowing people breathing room so they can get all the anger out of them, such as BSU (Black Student Union), they are collaborating with BGSO (Black graduate student organization) on November 10th, 2016 to let people speak their issues. Also, since I've been hearing people are starting to kill themselves because of this, the Suicide Hotline is open: 1-800-273-8255 . Trump has awakened a beast that has been semi-quiet for a while now.
