About two weeks ago, I took some time out of my lovely Saturday to help a friend of mine with a little project, the Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning, a non-profit organization in Jamaica, Queens NY. There's a variety of programs, that kids as young as 5 to young adults. JCAL holds classes every Saturday. These include a variety of dance classes; Ballet, hip-hop, jazz, and tap. Music Classes: singing, guitar, and keyboard lessons. Drama Classes for the one's interested in learning the mechanisms of Acting. They even hold classes on Martial Arts. JCAL also holds a lot of Visual Arts classes, for those young kids who want to learn how to draw, paint, ceramics, and the basic mechanics of art in general.
This organization is a great facility for lovers of Art, I think it's a beautiful way to showcase the importance of the Arts in young kids lives. This organization begin readily available for kids in the area, is just an example of how creative and imaginative kids can get. I love the Arts, I was an active member in High School, I did Band, Choir, and Drama Club. I can't stress enough the importance of this program. JCAL is a wonderful example of encouraging kids to go out and have fun.
