It's summer time, everything's good. Your internship is going well, you're enjoying the sun with your friends, life is just good. But suddenly, you realize it's almost already August, which means school starts back up in a few weeks. And oh my god, you're going to be a senior. Panic mode switches on right?
Don't panic quite yet. While it might seem terrifying that senior year is quickly upon you, you do have a full year before the scary real world shows up at your door. This is your year to push yourself further than ever before, have the most amount of fun physically possible, and make sure you live it up at every moment you can. You are a senior, after all.
Be excited that you're now the top dog on campus when it seems that only yesterday you were the terrified freshman trying to find your classes and getting hopelessly lost. You can finally take some classes that you've always wanted to take because you're pretty much done with most of your major and now you just need credit hours. Take some classes that are going to challenge you, but also take some classes you know are going to be easy, you want to have time to have some fun this year after all.
Make sure you spend some quality time with your closest friends. This is going to be the last year when you're all together in one central location. Once you graduate, everyone is going to move to different jobs, and hanging out is suddenly going to become much, much harder. Make memories that you'll tell your kids years from now of your crazy years in college. Now is the time to laugh together, love together, and cry your eyes out together once you've finally all crossed that stage, diploma in hand.
Also make sure to maximize your time with your favorite professors this year. This is going to be your last year with them as well. Take the time to go to their office hours, even if it's just to talk and catch up. Ask them about their lives after graduation and the paths they chose for themselves. Ask them about their first jobs, even if they've heard of any job opportunities that they think you might be interested in. Your professors have spent the past four years with you, watching you struggle through tests and paper, and grow into the strong academic you are today. They are a great resource for after graduation life, and great people to keep in touch with in the real world.
This is your last year of college. Your last year of stupid frat parties and drunken nights on campus. Your last year of incredibly long papers and tests. Your last year of dragging yourself to class, only to find you love everything you're learning. The last year to enjoy whatever club or organization you are a part of.
Don't panic, you'll be fine. Just enjoy it.
