Christmas time has always been my favorite time. I love everything from the lights to how everything seems a little happier. Unfortunately, I think society as a whole has missed the entire point of this season; remembering our Savior. Christmas is a celebration of the birth of our perfect savior and not a time of year that is centered around gifts. I work in retail and see parents come in the store panic stricken with the stress of ensuring they get their children the gift that they asked for, and it really breaks my heart. Is this really what my favorite season has become? Us focusing on gifts to show our love for one another and not being thankful for our blessings? I think we all need to take a step back and remember we were the given the best gift of all thousands of years ago. Our savior, our enteral hero was born and he selflessly sacrificed himself for us. Shouldn't that be what we think about during this time of year, and shouldn't that be what we try to embody especially during this season? We all need to turn our focus back on to Christ and try to be Christ-like during this special holiday. Instead of making Christmas about the presents under the tree, why don't we talk about the birth of Christ or share a Christ-like love for our fellow members of our community? Let's talk about what this season is all about, and let's talk about how we can give the Christmas we enjoy to people who can't afford it. Instead of worrying about superficial things like the next must-have gift, let's give gifts and items needed to families who really need them. This Christmas I challenge everyone who reads this to talk about Christ or buy a gift for someone who might need to feel Christ-like love more than you know. This Christmas be the embodiment of Christ because your smile and your kindness could change someone's day. Merry Christmas yall!
