Who says the 80s aren't in? I have some of my current and all time favorite "oldies" songs listed, 1970s-1980s. And no, they aren't out of style.

Sweet Child 'O Mine  - Guns & Roses

One of my favorite things about baseball season is the walkout songs the players choose to have playing as they prepare to bat. One player at school chose this classic to play. Makes me super happy he appreciates this era as much as I do.

ANYTHING JOURNEY

Don't even get me started.. I know every song! They are by FAR my favorite, over Billy Joel and Queen (some other personal faves). In 2017, I was able to see them twice, and they absolutely blow me away each time I listen to their music. It literally gives me chills as Don't Stop Believin' plays over the speakers every fourth quarter of our football games at Mississippi State. Anyway, any of their songs are the best choice, but if you want names, 'Faithfully', 'Why Can't This Night Go On Forever', and 'Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'' are close to my heart.

House of the Rising Sun - The Animals

I'm not too familiar with The Animals, however, I know this is song is quite famous. I heard this song performed on 'The Voice' a couple years ago, and really liked it. Then I realized I already knew the song. Ha! Such a good bop.

Dream On - Aerosmith

THIS IS MY SONG.

Wanted Dead or Alive - Bon Jovi

Such a special band. One of the best. If you aren't familiar with 'Livin' On A Prayer' or 'You Give Love A Bad Name', stop reading and go give a listen.

Matter of Trust - Billy Joel

Billy is a tough one.. I love others of his, but this one makes me exhilarated! His live versions of 'Root Beer Rag', 'Uptown Girl', and 'It's Still Rock & Roll to me' are pretty fun to watch. If you memorize every word to 'We Didn't Start the Fire' like I did, we can have a sing off. Lemme know.

Under Pressure - Queen

We all know them by now, if you didn't before the movie 'Bohemian Rhapsody' released. They brought some of the world's best songs, like 'We Will Rock You', 'We Are The Champions', and one of my favorites, 'Radio Ga Ga'.

"Don't waste your money on a new set of speakers,
You get more mileage from a cheap pair of sneakers,
Next phase, new wave, dance craze, anyways,
It's still rock and roll to me."

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
