You have so much to look forward to, even if you're fumbling in the dark right now

It’s not the future we are afraid of, we are afraid of reliving the past once again.

It may not be something we are entirely proud of, but we are all at least a bit scared of life. Fear is part of our lives, and it helps hold us together. Fear makes us react in a way nothing else does. It causes you to make quick judgements and to propel into the future more rapidly. Fear is something that you can face and overcome, or you can choose not to. It can turn you in one direction or another.

Throughout the plethora of conversations we have about life, the future seems to be a reoccurring fear in people's lives. I’m not going to lie--the future is extremely scary. We never know what is going to happen, and what makes it worse is that there is no possible way of knowing. The future is ultimately unknown.

Even though the unknown is scary, and it will seem as though you are just fumbling around in the dark, there is always a chance to find light and happiness at the end of the tunnel. You can shape your future in certain ways, even though you don't have a 100 percent chance that it will turn out exactly how you want it.

However, I don’t necessarily think it is the future that we fear. I believe it’s the past that truly terrifies us.

While our future is uncertain, the past is set in stone and what has been done can not be changed. We all face past experiences where nothing can be done to change it, we just have to move on. This is truly the scary part of life. The past often holds a large burden for people because they can’t change what's happened. We have to deal with what's been done, both good and bad.

When we recall the past, most of the time we can only focus on the negative and the blanket of darkness brought over our lives. There was a point in your life when you either won or lost, and you dwell on it. We as humans believe that these negative aspects define who we are as a person, and we don’t let them go. This is where we go wrong. Our past is in the past for a reason--it helped form us into the person we are today.

Rather than dwelling on the past, we should move on and learn from it. The past is there to help you become a better person and to put yourself on the right track. We are terrified to repeat these faults in the present and harm our future. But take the present as it is and move forward, because we know where we went wrong, and we can avoid the same mistakes a second time.

It is in no way, shape, or form selfish to demand a change and tell yourself that you will not make the same mistake twice. Don’t be afraid of repeating the past, because you don’t have to do it.

You can complete anything if you are driven and positive. You may not believe in your ability to create a fantastic future for yourself, but I believe in you. As much as we are both scared of our pasts, we can move forward and do what we always believed we could.

At the end of the day, you are responsible for whom you and your future become. Don’t be afraid of it just because of your past. Be who you want to be and do what you want to do. Create one hell of a bright future for yourself and don’t back down.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
