WOAH, the nerves are real.
In the next month or so, you are about to embark on the amazing journey of becoming a big. You aren't going to be the baby anymore. It's a feeling as if you're about to bring a "new baby sister" home sort of mixed with becoming a "new mom." Thrilled, excited, nervous, happy, cautious, ecstatic, anxious, glowing, and every other adjective in the book is how you are feeling right now.
Being a big isn't just about taking the cutest big/little pic. It's about so much more...
1. You're taking this "little" life into your hands. She's going to look up to you and want to hang out with you, so make sure you can be a good role model for her.
2. You are her true "first glimpse" into sorority life. Make it the best.
3. Most likely you've become pretty close over the past few weeks. Maybe you guys are rush crushes, maybe you were bid day buddies, or maybe you met and clicked last week. Make sure she feels so special and so loved even if you "just met." This is her day, and quite frankly your's too!
4. Being a big isn't all about the crafts. Don't just whip out a million canvases because you think they're "cool." Personalize it a bit and make her feel like you've truly gotten to know her.
5. DON'T GIVE IT AWAY EARLY THAT YOU ARE HER BIG! Keep it a surprise, because it's the best feeling in the world running into your Big's arms for the first time. You know that's all she has been thinking about since joining your chapter.
6. Make every moment of her day special, because you are truly only the "littlest little" once.
7. Remember all of your sisters are precious. If you think you've found "the one," don't stop engaging with the other babes, they could end up being your best friend.
8. I know it's hard "growing up," and you might be sad, but this will be one of the best experiences you'll have in Greek Life.
9. Don't forget about your own big. She's nervous too because part of your heart is being given to her precious G. Most likely, your Big isn't going to know her all that well, so keep her up to date and make her feel included.
10. Take lots of pictures! Have someone in your family take reveal pics. Those are the best to come back and look at later.
Get ready, get set... It's a new ride... Because guess what?! YOU'RE GONNA BE A BIG!
