The first day of fall this year is Sept. 23. I'm writing this while eating a quesadilla and watching The Emmys, so that means my favorite season is in T-3 days. You may be asking, "Why do you live in Texas if you love fall? Don't you only get it for, like, three days?" and you'd be right.
I think that somewhere around week two of summer, I'm suffering a heat stroke and ready for what the fancy people call "autumn."
I've created a list of the things I'm most excited for :
1. Fall-Scented Candles
At the 103, we're a very candle-oriented bunch. I've had this "watermelon lemonade" candle working far too long for my taste. My roommate just bought one named "Flannel" that smells oh-so-heavenly (she says it's what she thinks Luke Hemmings smells like).
2. S'mores
As I'm sure you could tell by the header photo for this article, I'm a fan. I like carbs, I like chocolate, and I like marshmallows. What more could you want? I'm also a huge fan of how you can change up your s'mores if you ever get tired of the same old mallow.
Feeling inspired? Check this out!
3. Sweaters and scarves and beanies galore!
I'm always cold. That's a fact. Thus, sweaters are the best thing that have happened to me. Haven't washed your hair? Throw on a beanie. Too lazy for real clothes? Throw on a sweater. Scarves are incredibly functional, but they also allow you to wear the same outfit multiple ways and for it not look like you only own two shirts (oops, now you know my secret).
4. People not thinking it's weird that I'm wearing dark nail polish
Oxblood for life.
5. SOUP
No soup for you, Soup Nazi. I'm always into soup, but now, I probably won't overheat while enjoying it.
6. Pumpkin stuff
I'll admit that I'm not a huge fan of pumpkin-flavored things, but I'm excited for actual pumpkins littering my house.
Pumpkin spice lattes are overrated, but pumpkin patches from Common Grounds are not (this is the one thing that I'll complement Waco on. Hit up Common Grounds and bring me one while you're at it). Also, I make a heck of a pumpkin chocolate chip muffin.
7. 13 Nights of Halloween on ABC Family
I'm always a sucker for "Hocus Pocus."
8. Bonfires + Hay Rides + Drive-In Movies
Is it bad now I have the line "sitting by the fire while we're eating fondue" stuck in my head?
If it involves me bringing hot coffee or tea outside while I hang out with my friends, you can count me in.
9. New Music
If you know me, I'm sure you know that 1. I'm obsessed with music and 2. I have all of the relevant concert dates/new album release dates in my planner and I couldn't be happier about it. New 5SOS? Little Mix? STATE CHAMPS? Just take my money, music industry.
10. FOOTBALL! GO FROGS!
