It WILL Get Better, I Promise

It seems like the world is going crazy, but there are so many good changes happening and people still care about you and your well being.

Given the current state of the world, our personal lives and other things that seem to go wrong at the last second, I've seen a lot of people in and around my life who have been quite down lately. More and more people are asking for hugs on Twitter, which is not a bad thing, and there just seems to be bad news lurking around every corner whether it be political or personal. I've found that it doesn't just effect the ones who are being harmed by certain situations, but it effects everyone around them as well.

I too have been effected by the sudden sadness in the air and the turmoil surrounding me. I've been listening to songs such as "My Immortal" by Evanescence and "Sad Song" by We The Kings for weeks on end and I'm not sure why. I don't know if it's because I'm effected by my friends being sad or if I'm just sad myself. It's tricky and confusing to understand, but somewhere among the madness there's an logical explanation.

Now, I don't want to make anyone more upset than they already are by retelling the current events or pointing out every single thing that is wrong with the world in setting. What the real purpose of this article is to bring hope to a depressed world, to shine a little bit of light in the darkness and to offer words of comfort to those who are suffering and sad.

Others might say that you are less than perfect and that what you're doing with your life is worthless, useless and not worth your time or effort. I'm here to say that I've heard that before as well originally starting off as a history major. I've been told that the major or my new major, journalism, is nothing but "fake news."

But they're wrong.

You can do it if you put your mind to it.

I've seen successful cosplayers, journalists, historians, and artists all around and they made it with an astounding amount of effort and patience. So, if you're at a point where you feel your skills are lacking or you made the wrong decision when it comes to life, just remember that there are people out there rooting for you and want to see you succeed.

Don't give up just yet because there's a whole world of opportunities waiting for you just around the corner.

Try to block out the people who hate you and are just just there to tell you that what you're doing is wrong, because they don't know what you've been through to get to this point. Trust me, I know that these things are easier said than done, but when you get to the point where you are blocking out the hate, it is the most freeing thing in the world.

To those who are shy, when you finally get to that point where your voice needs to be heard and you can't stay silent anymore it will be just as freeing. Sure your heart will seem to beat out of your chest, your hands will shake like crazy and you may stumble over your thoughts, but the outcome is often worth it.

Yes, the world seems like it's going crazy, but there are good changes in the world and people who do believe it will get better.

So, keep your head held high and remember everything that you've done to get to this point in your life. If you're feeling down right now, it's OK to feel down, but remember this one thing:

It will get better, I promise.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
