Some days we forget our own self-worth. Maybe you’ve been dumped or maybe a co-worker yelled at you, or you might just be feeling on the low side. Sometimes the feeling of hating yourself is constant, and even when you’re happy there’s a thought in the back of your mind that you are not good enough. The thoughts can become very invasive, considering how toxic they are to your mental health.
Even though dark thoughts might enter your mind and stay, you must realize that blaming yourself and punishing yourself is not worth it. You are the person that has stayed by your own side through all the years you’ve been alive. You are the person that is going to be there until the end; your body and mind. So one of the most important things to learn how to do in this lifetime is to accept who you are.
When times get tough the first instinct is to give up on yourself, but you need to realize that you have to fight for your own survival no matter how hard it might seem. Self-acceptance is the first step to loving yourself. You don't need to love yourself, heck, you don't even have to like yourself. But you must accept that this is the person you are right now and you have all the power in the world to change yourself into the person you want to be.
Whenever a bad thought enters my mind, I try my best to remember and convince myself that there is no one out there who will be around me more than me. So that is the biggest reason I started to learn to love myself. Yes, you have friends, family, and pets, but sometimes those things are not forever- they are not constant. You, on the other hand, are constant, always by your own side. That’s why it is so important that you learn to love yourself.
If there’s something about yourself that you don’t particularly enjoy, you can try to change it, better yourself. The goal is to become the person that you envision yourself being. You can live through it, and you can do anything, because you’ve already made it this far. There is no obstacle that can stop you.
