All you basic white girls, get ready for this one. Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes just got even more basic (if you could believe that). Coming this fall, Starbucks will ditch the artificial caramel coloring and will be adding actual pumpkin to your ever-so-pricey white coffee mug.
The Pumpkin Spice Latte, or PSL for you avid Starbucks drinkers, was first introduced to Starbucks customers in the fall of 2003, and ever since then, it's always been a hit. You can give thanks to adamant food blogger, Vani Hari, who wrote up a post about the authenticity of the drink. Persistent Hari has been emailing Starbucks every month checking on the progress of the new and improved PSL, hoping to hear some good news. And that's exactly what she found.
The new ingredients for Starbucks PSL consists of: espresso, milk, pumpkin spice flavor sauce (containing the actual pumpkin puree), whipped cream (if you please), vanilla syrup, and finally the pumpkin spice topping consisting of nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon, and clove.
The new pumpkin craze has even led Panera Bread Company to hop on the bandwagon and add real pumpkin and rid their lattes of any artificial flavors.
The PSL is Starbucks' most popular selling seasonal drink of all time, and this new change-up will only support this entitlement even more. So get your Starbucks mugs ready and head to your nearest store pronto once this seasonal drink makes its return debut.
PTL for the return of the PSL.
