It Doesn't Matter Who The President Is

I know what your'e thinking. It doesn't matter who the president is? Are you kidding me? Of course it matters who the President of the United States of America is! This is one of the most bizarre and controversial elections of all time! It's 2016 and we are right in the middle of election season! Yes, I do understand all of these things.

Are you a fan of President Obama? Cool. Do you love Bernie Sanders? Great. Are you a profound Hillary supporter? Awesome. Are you in the shotgun seat of the Trump train? Happy for you. At the end of the day it doesn't matter. Why? Because Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton, or President Barack Obama are not in control here. God is.

Yes, we should pray for our leaders and pray that they make the best decisions with the position and power they have been given. However, ultimately, they don't get the final say. When the rubber hits the road, they can simply do their best work, and the rest is up to God. I'm not saying to be reckless and to go out and elect an unqualified person for the job, but what I am saying is, try as they might, their minds are feeble compared to the Lord's.

This is a time when both major political parties are fractured and drifting farther apart than ever before. 2016 has seen the widening of the gap between millennials, the Gen X-ers, Generation Y, and Baby Boomers alike. This is a time when racial tensions are at an all-time high. This is a time when women are standing up for themselves and are receiving more rights than ever before. This is a time when there is violence happening in every corner of the earth. This is a time when technology is our greatest friend, and also our greatest adversary. Truly, we must be in the Industrial Revolution of the 21st century.

I say all of that to say this. God is still in control. He is all powerful. He is immutable. He is transcendent. He is Holy. And, greater than all of that, is the fact that He loves us. A Holy God cares about me, and He also cares about you. I think that is so difficult to fathom sometimes. A Holy being who knit me together loves me? Why? What did I do to earn that love? How am I worthy enough to be loved by God? And then He tells me: You are more precious than rubies. How is it that me, a flawed, sinful human being can be seen as being more precious than rubies in the Eyes of a Holy Father? I must conclude that it is because God's ways are different than my own. I must conclude that He has some sort of plan for my life that I obviously don't understand yet. And he has one for you too. You may not understand what it is, but He has one.

And his is why I say: It doesn't matter who the president is. God has a plan for us. He has a plan for our country. He has a plan for our personal lives. He is God. He is the Almighty. His ways are much higher than our own. Maybe instead of worrying about the direction of our country or our own personal lives, we should just submit to it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
