We have all heard the famous sayings "don't blink" and "life goes by in the blink of an eye." You never really realize how fast time flies until you catch yourself at what feels like the end of a moment. You can just be entering a scenario that is supposed to last 10 months, and it feels like it only lasted for about a week. The sad thing is, most of the time we are all too caught up in our own everyday activities to realize the life that is going on all around us.
There are a lot of good times we miss out on being caught up in the moment of a petty problem, stressful exam we have to take or the drama life throws our way. Sometimes we get so caught up that we don't realize when someone around us is in trouble or really struggling. The sad thing is, we may have never had the chance to get to know somebody until it's too late. As we grow older, we are no longer condemned to the town we grew up in, and when a friend moves away it's usually to the other side of town. Now when we say goodbye to people, the goodbye is usually permanent, and the distance could be around the world. Why do we take the people in our lives for granted, and then eventually just let the person who we used to talk to every day evaporate from our lives completely?
These moments become so critical to our everyday lives. Moments happen every second, and you never know which one is going to have the biggest impact on your life. You could go to bed one night, and then everything could be changed by the time you wake up. We get too invested in our own lives and problems to realize it. We let life go by, and we find ourselves not actually living. We no longer enjoy the lives that we live, and we tend to live them through a computer screen instead of experiencing adventures ourselves. When did we let ourselves get so caught up in the demands of this world and completely ignore all of the beautiful sights and people it has to offer?
I challenge you today. I challenge the person who is reading this post to take a step back from whatever is going on in life and take a look at the life that is going on around you. Really take a good look. What is here today may not be the same tomorrow, so hug the person you love a little tighter, say "yes please" and "thank you" more often and be appreciative of what God gave you because you never know when he can take it away. Don't let time get so far ahead that you find yourself at the end of your journey and can't be proud of all that you did. Enjoy the time that you have for your own personal needs, but also the needs of those around you. Everyone is fighting their own battle, whether you know it or not. Put aside all of your troubles and duties, and just let yourself live in the moment and let life happen.
