Society has created these standards for individuals in which we strive to achieve. If we don’t reach these standards, we automatically begin to doubt ourselves. Why should we hold ourselves to a certain level in order to feel loved? God created us to be imperfectly perfect. Our generation is desiring the wrong things. We are starting to act a certain way according to society.
As fun as it is to post on social media, we start to question our decision to post what we had posted because of our low amount of likes. Social media shouldn’t control how we feel depending on the amount of likes. I hear so many people say, “I only got 60 likes”. Why does it matter? And then we may debate on deleting the post or not due to the low amount of likes. I know I have. The amount of likes on our posts should not effect us in one way or another. Let’s not focus on the number of likes and focus on how our posts impact others.
We find pictures and articles on models and people we watch on television almost everyday on the internet or in magazines. Our generation is so messed up that it is highlighting thin bodies as “beautiful” and we aim to have that kind of bodies. If we don’t have that kind of body, we start to have no confidence within ourselves just because we don’t have the ideal body image.
Some even try out new diets or workouts in order to make themselves look better. It’s good to workout and go on a diet, but do it to feel healthy- not to work up to the desired body image. This persona mostly points towards ladies. Ladies, not having an ideal body shouldn’t have any effect on a guy. Love your body and embrace it.
Don’t seek approval or likeness. The only one you should be seeking approval to is Jesus. Yes, it’s nice to hear a complement once in a while. However, don’t act a certain way to be liked. You will be given friends who like you for who you are and cherish them. Not everybody is like that. Act yourself because show them who you really are if they want to critique you. The best feeling is knowing that you already have the love of Jesus Christ and that’s all you need in life. You should receive fulfillment alone in Jesus.
We each were called onto this world for a purpose. God created you to reflect on his image. Stop focusing on the things that don’t matter instead of focusing on Jesus. You have so much to live for in God’s name and keep your eyes on his word. When you seek God, you will find so much meaning and self-worth in yourself. You will feel the freedom that you don’t have to be perfect. God didn’t create anybody to be perfect. The only person who is perfect is God.
