Senioritis: is it for everyone?

Senioritis is a real and serious thing. Senioritis is when you stop giving a crap about any of the things in your life when you are a senior in high school. But is this only for seniors in high school or is it something that can happen at any time? The answer is oh my god yeah! Senioritis is simply what we call it because it mainly happens to seniors in high school, but in reality it happens to everyone. Here are some of the symptoms of senioritis that gets the best of all of us.

1. Laziness

Seriously, we are all super lazy sometimes, although some people like to pretend that they are not. We all like to sit around, eat junk food and wear our sweats all while not leaving our bedrooms. I stopped caring about things so long ago and that is why senioritis totally effects everyone. Going to school as a senior you will definitely see a ton of people wearing sweats or the most casual outfits ever because they just want to get out of there. That is basically college in a nutshell. I have seen someone roll up to class wearing a onesie, but I don't judge, I wish I had one to wear. Honestly, the ability to do things has really gone out the window, procrastination is at its best when you have senioritis. Laziness is one of the key symptoms when it comes to senioritis.

2. Procrastination

I know that technically this can go under laziness, but really this deserves its own category. Literally everyone procrastinated at some point in their lives, and if they haven't yet they definitely will. It's like a rite of passage when you get into school, anything after elementary school means you need to start procrastinating. There will come a time when it is 3 a.m. and you are working on a paper that is due the next day even though you had two weeks to do it in. That is seriously the life of any college student, they procrastinate because they want to do other things like sleep and eat. I have personally procrastinated before and I will probably do it at some point in the near future. Senioritis and the procrastination go hand-in-hand and they are basically what all seniors do, they don't even care anymore, they just want out.

3. Food!

I know that everyone eats but when you have nothing to do at all then you might as well go out to lunch. You make snacks for your friends to take to class when you really should be doing homework but that's neither here nor there. There will be snacks literally everywhere, which isn't a bad thing, and you will eat all the time. It is a distraction, something to take your mind off the fact that you are stuck where you are. That is a sad fact to think about but its true, we need to distract ourselves because we are so bored with our lives and so we like to stuff our faces with delicious food. Food is something that will always be there to help us in our senioritis phases and I thank god for that. Whether you are a senior in high school or a 26 year old who hates doing anything, you can always count on this part of senioritis to keep you focused on that rather than the reality of your life.

So senioritis is so not just for seniors in high school, it comes in when you least expect it. Just kick back, relax and just do nothing like you do all the time. Let senioritis just happen because eventually it will leave and you can become an adult that has actual responsibilities and one who actually wants to do them.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
