Everyday, I spend some (most) of my free time on social media, two of them being Instagram and Pinterest. Among all my friends that I follow, there are a few accounts on each site that always post quotes and meaningful sayings. Since I have a lot of Irish in me, most of them are all Irish Proverbs, and I have saved tons of them that make me happy or feel better whenever I read them.
"A good laugh and a long sleep are the two best cures for anything."
I'm always one to try to do anything to feel or be happy, and try to get everyone around me to be happy along with me.
"You're feet will take you where your heart is."
Find where you belong. Whether you're in your hometown or somewhere miles and miles away, there's nothing stopping you from going where you want.
"Do it as if there were fire in your skin."
Don't constantly hold yourself back. You've heard this before, but life is about taking chances.
"A kind word never broke anyone's mouth."
This one kind of speaks for itself. Nothing makes you feel worse than saying something mean.
"Do not resent growing old.. Some are denied the privilege."
This is a favorite. I don't think anyone should fear the idea of growing old. If you live everyday as if it's your last, there should be no fear in growing old, because that way you would be living life to the fullest.
"There is nothing so bad that it couldn't be worse."
Everyone has their bad days. But if you really think about it, it could be worse. I take this quote as a motivation to think every bad situation is just a bump in the road that could be easily forgotten about.
"A light heart lives long."
Heavy hearts weigh you down. "Light heart" means to be free of care and to be cheerful and optimistic. That definitely sounds better than to be depressed or unhappy.
"Count your joys instead of your woes; count your friends instead of your foes."
I cannot stress this one enough. Why worry about the sad times when there's more time to think of the happy ones? Why count how many enemies you have when you should be counting the people you care about and love?
"Every path has a puddle."
This one is important. This truly defines anything. No matter what the task may be, something is bound to get in your way. But every puddle will eventually dry up.
"May your home always be too small to old all your friends."
Keep your friends around and make as many as you can.
"What is for you will not pass you by."
If something was meant of you, then it won't leave you.
"Be happy with what you have and you will have plenty to be happy about."
Definitely the #1 Golden Rule in my life. This quote reminds me of that saying "be grateful for what you have." What you have and who you keep in your life defines you as a person, and being thankful for what you have and not expecting more is the greatest accomplishment you could achieve in life.
I really hope you take into mind what these Irish proverbs really mean, and take your perspective on life in a certain way. Everyday could give you a new meaning, and more than often you can find yourself relating to these.
