iOS 10 is now out for the iPhone. This update has made many additions to the existing iPhone application. Although some people are hesitant to part with their old software, iOS 10 seems to have many positive new programs. Here are some tips and tricks on how to get the most out of your updated iPhone.
For starters, you no longer have to go through the hassle of hitting the home screen and then sliding the bottom to get to your keypad and unlock your phone, which I know was such a waste of your valuable time. A simple home screen click will now suffice; making it faster and easier to unlock your phone.
In addition, all screens and notifications have a more modern style to them, increasing the attractiveness of the iPhone. If while on your lock screen you swipe right, a second lock screen appears with updates on your calendar, the news, the weather, and so much more. If you scroll to the bottom of the screen and click edit, you can choose the apps you wish to see extra notifications for on this screen.
The timer and alarm screen is upgraded and is now black and modern, going along with the overall high tech look of the new update. With a new program, Bedtime, you can set a time for going to bed and waking up. It will then monitor to see how long you’ve been sleeping. It reminds you when to go to bed and wakes you up with new, pleasant sounds - instead of an annoying alarm beeping.
Traveling is now so much easier as well. Ever been on a long road trip where you want to stop for a Starbucks to wake up or you really have to pee? Well now, if you slide up while using maps, it can show you food options, gas stations, coffee places and more. By selecting one, it will direct you to the stop along your route so you don’t have to go out of the way and add extra time to your trip.
The Home program freaks me out a little, but I see how it can be useful. Essentially, the house app controls your household appliances. It can control the lights, lock your doors, and fix the thermostat with the click of a button.
Photos now are organized in many different albums and can search for faces - perfect when you need a last minute picture to Instagram for your best friend’s birthday. Photos can also create a memory movie for you so you can reminisce about old pictures.
There are many new additions to iMessaging as well. First, you can send an invisible message. By holding the little send arrow down, options pop up that affect how your message is received. For example, you can use invisible ink, have the message slam into the phone, send it with balloons, and even more. Have fun playing around with this one. By clicking the app button to the left of your text box, you can send your favorite songs and gifs to your friends easily.
The seemingly most loved new part of iMessage is the drawing feature. By clicking the heart to the left of your text box, you can send kissing lips, drawings, hearts, and much more. Again, have fun with this one as well as the several new emojis added to the keyboard.
There are two tips that not a lot of people know, but can make their lives so much easier. When reading articles on your safari app, ads often cover the page, distracting from the content. By pressing the four line in the top left corner, you can get rid of all the ads on a webpage and only see the photos and text. By going into the brightness part of settings, you can click sunset to sunrise and automatically, your phone will get darker at night to reduce eye strain.
Last, always check up on the Tips app on your iPhone. It will offer you easy tips and tricks to make any new updates easy to discover.
