The release of the newest line of Apple products including the iPhone 8, iPhone X, and the Apple Watch Series 3 was unveiled for the world to feast their eyes on early last week. These updates products also introduced the newest operating system, iOS 11. What many Apple users failed to remember is the OS is released nearly immediately after the launch announcement.
On September 19, iOS 11 was available to download by the public. Flocks rushed to download it to be on the level of the tech elites. Once the download was complete, they swiped up to unlock their phone and immediately started griping. Consumers should know by now that when a new product is released it is not going to be perfect on initial release. When iOS 10 was released in September 2016, Apple pushed an additional update the same day as the release! Then pushed out 2 additional releases within a month. Technology isn't perfect, and neither are the people who make it.
Complaints have mainly complained about their battery life drains quickly. A draining battery isn't anything new upon initial release. Since iOS 9 customers have issued complaints about battery life more than any other actual issue with the operating system. The general rule of thumb is, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it.' So is your battery actually broke or are you overreacting?
Here's my tip to figure out if it needs fixing or not. Before you go to bed fully charge your phone when you go to bed unplug your phone (ensure that your phone is fully charged or this will not work). Then when you wake up access your battery settings (Settings > Battery) and check your 'Usage' and 'Standby' times. The standby time should be the amount of time you were asleep and the usage time is the amount of time your phone was being used - whether you were using it or background apps were - the times should be relatively close during your time of slumber. If they are not, then you've got a battery issue (or too many apps running in the background).
Apple has acknowledged that the Control Center bug is a work in progress, as of now if you are the open your Control Center and tap the buttons for Wifi or Bluetooth they will toggle as if they are being turned on/off, but they really aren't turning on or off only disconnecting your from your current connections.
iOS 11 isn't top of the line, but it's one of the best updates since iOS 7 redesigned the OS look for iPhones. I'm impressed by what I've seen so far and that's why I'm voting BOOM for iOS 11.
