Chicago based duo Louis The Child is making a name for itself one festival at a time. The duo consists of Freddy Kennet and Robby Hauldren, who both have one goal: to make music that makes people happy. According to their website, that is.
A true "out of the blue" success story, LTC started on the Internet -- Soundcloud to be exact. A few years ago, the two uploaded a series of wildly popular remixes to songs and the word began to spread. The reason behind this rapid, widespread success isn't name recognition or endorsements but pure enjoyable sound.
Their single "It's Strange" has received massive praise from the around the world. Featuring artist K. Flay on vocals, the song takes an odd look at relationships and space in a really bubbly and poppy way. The single has reached over five million streams on Soundcloud and has been played by the likes of BBC, Triple J, and KCRW. In 2016, Snapchat listed them as one of the top three dance artists to watch.
Described as "Future Bass Heads," many are saying that the pair are going to be picking up where internationally renowned artist Flume is leaving off (not anytime soon though). In the meantime, both artists are working on their own individual sounds and absolutely killing it. Look out for them on their current national headlining tour including stops at Coachella, Governor's Ball, and Firefly Music Festival.
I will be interviewing them at Firefly, so stay tuned for that. While you wait, enjoy some of LTC's rad sounds.
