Deadships is a metal/hardcore/rock band from Chicago, Illinois. Members consist of vocalist David Kvistad, guitarist/vocalist Kyle Church, guitarist Kyle Yocum, drummer Petr Keres and bassist James Pezanoski.

They’re currently signed to Stay Sick Recordings, a recording label that was recently created by Attila frontman Chris Fronzak, or as people refer to him, Fronzilla (or Fronz for short). He’s signed other popular bands like The Plot In You, Enterprise Earth, Redeem/Revive and It Lives, It Breathes. Fronz’s wild, successful, belligerent life is a completely different story for another day, but it’s essential to know that if a band, person, or anyone really partners with Fronz to do something, they’re pretty much set. The dude is a crazy genius in the music/business industry. He’s an actual rags-to-riches boy.

Anyway, these lovely dudes are about to hop on a good portion of The Amity Affliction’s next headlining tour, the “THIS COULD BE HEARTBREAK NORTH AMERICAN TOUR” along with Being As An Ocean, HUNDREDTH and Trophy Eyes.

I got in contact with their manager and was able to conduct a brief interview with the guys about the upcoming tour and their lives as musicians. It’s short, simple and sweet.

You can read what we discussed below (Kyle Y. does most of the talking).

1. What are you looking forward to most on your upcoming tour with The Amity Affliction?

There are so many friends on it that I've toured with before. This one is going to be a giant hangout with a lot of good people. I’m also really excited to play a bunch of new music for a bunch of new crowds.

2. What is your tour pet peeve and why?

Not having a coffee in walking distance of wherever I wake up.

3. Who's the child of the band and how can you prove it?

Probably me. I can be responsible when I have to be, but if I don't HAVE to be I usually find myself getting everyone to be reckless.

4. What's been your craziest moment as a band?

A while back we had a real beat-up touring van and we lost our brakes going down a damn mountain in West Virginia. We all thought we were going to die.

5. Describe the upcoming Deadships album in one word.

Kyle Yocum: Reflective.

David Kvistad: Energetic.

Kyle Church: Exciting.

Petr Keres: Powerful.

James Pezanoski: Lit.

6. What's one reason anyone should check out Deadships?

We're a big family. We all grew up together expressing ourselves through music, and having fun doing it. So join the family, express yourself, and have fun! That's what this is all about for us.

Make sure to catch Deadships on their next tour if they’re playing in your area! To hold you over for now, here’s their music video for “Siren’s Song.”

You can keep up with them via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The Chicago metal scene is something you won’t want to ignore.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
