R&B and pop singer, Rhianna dropped her single "Work" from her new album "ANTI" featuring Drake, a couple of weeks ago and has taken the nation by storm. Thanks to Rhianna, Drake, and her director/producers, the addicting beat and lyrics of 'Work" has gotten almost everyone on their feet. Besides the catchy lyrics and rhythm, there must be a meaning to this song.

Many people notice that they actually don't know what Rhianna is saying and that may be true, but it's done intentionally. Although Rhianna's song "Work" is acknowledged as an amazing song to dance to, I want people to acknowledge the purpose of this song. I may not have the exact answer to the set meaning, but 'Work" is definitely not a pointless song.

Rhianna is actually singing in Jamaican Patois in "Work." Jamaican Patois is a Jamaican-Creole language that has been originated from African slaves. The African influenced language is still spoken today and is mainly referred as Patois.

In "Work" Rhianna expresses how she has put all of her efforts toward one person, but she doesn't get the same level of effort back in return. Drake then comes in with the fundamentals of what a relationship means. Obviously the story is about love, relationship, or friendship and it's quite relatable. So instead of dissing and mocking Rhianna's "gibberish" lyrics, we should acknowledge how amazing she is for incorporating a different language that not many people knew exists and tying it into a theme that many people can relate to.
