Instagram is a favorite of the social media for many smartphone users these days. But there is always a slight controversy on what is used for. Is your Instagram artsy? Organized? Selfie-obsessed? A Life Timeline? Barely use it? Or a Shrine to a favorite hobby/person?
In my opinion, I always try to save important events, people, or gorgeous views that are “Instagram Worthy”. A phrase I am sure many of you have used before. So what makes a picture “Instagram Worthy”? Here is a college teenage girl’s idea.
Quality
A blurry picture is never good. Make sure the picture you want to post is absolutely crystal clear. A blurry selfie or a blurry sunset is not very appeasing to your followers. I do have some exceptions, if there was an event that absolutely changed your life and the only picture you have is one that is blurry then hey, go for it! This is your Instagram anyway.
Importance
Is it important to you? For all of your posts anywhere, make sure they are important to you! It is very important to post things that reflect your personality. Significant events in your life are a lovely addition to anyone's Instagram, Got a bae? Family occurrence? Birthday? Awesome new purchase? Are all examples of fun things to share with your followers. Just be wary because everything you post will stay on the internet forever! Anyway! I am not going to post a picture of autumn leaves because I know that most people like leaves, I am going to post it because I thought they were so beautiful I had to stop to take a picture. Making it important to me and nice to share it. If you take a selfie that you think is on point and makes you feel hot, post it! It makes you feel good when you see those likes go up and know that others approve of that selfie or mirror pic as well.
Original
This is a little more difficult in a world of “follow the leader” but take a picture and think “Has anyone else done this before?” “How can I make it more unique?” You may be thinking “Jade, I just want to post a picture of my dog, Snuffles, it shouldn’t need to be original!” Well trust me readers, Snuffles needs to be seen, and to add his cuteness add an original caption! Make it funny, make it you, entertain your followers! Add a bunch of funny emojis that don’t exactly make sense or think of something witty! Anything is better than “I love my adorable dog! #dog #love #adorable #socute #Snuffles” that is #boring. Try something like “Snuffles could destroy (Insert hot celebrity here) in a cute contest any day #bringiton #cutenessablazin #snufflesvs.hotguy.” I am not a professional captioner, but I do know a witty, fun caption if I see one. If you didn’t like that caption, I am sorry, but I would like to see what you have.
