What I've Been Listening To: Podcasts To Inspire And Motivate

Ever get tired of listening to music?

I know I do sometimes, so that's why I started getting into listening to podcasts. Once I started looking through them, I realized that there were so many different podcasts that looked SO good. I was actually kind of overwhelmed by all of the categories that fit my interest. I wanted to find podcasts that I could connect with and ones that inspired me to be a better version of myself. A few of my favorites fit into the category of inspirational and motivational.

Listening to podcasts can be educational and can put you in a positive headspace. There is a podcast to fit pretty much anything you are interested in whether that be comedy, health & fitness, business, sports, news, or anything else. So, it may be worth browsing through because you never know what you may find that could entertain and inspire you.

Here are some of my personal favorites:

1. "WHOA That's Good" by Sadie Robertson

Sadie Rob is such an amazing role model for young women. She is someone who I look up to because of how her love for Jesus and serving other shines through. From Duck Dynasty to Dancing With The Stars to bestselling author to founder of Live Original; Sadie dives into many different projects that have made her well-known and loved by many. During this podcast, Sadie brings on a guest nearly every week and asks all of them what the best piece of advice is that they have ever been given. This question then stems into a full fun conversation with lots of inspirational advice that we can all learn from. She has such a lighthearted, down-to-earth spirit that always boosts a positive mindset.

2. "SHE" by Jordan Lee Dooley

Jordan is a total boss babe who is goal-driven, ambitious, and hardworking all while remaining strong in her faith and in relationships with those around her. From being a bestselling author to a small business owner, Jordan provides tips on how to start a small business, how to kickstart your career, how to deal with finances and so much more. She also covers many health topics including the importance of maintain physical and mental health all while working towards your goals. Jordan promotes her slogan, "your brokenness is welcome here", reminding us that it's okay to take a break amidst working towards your goals and that we can all be go-getters. Her genuine attitude, work ethic, and love for helping others is perfect for any girl boss out there.

3. "Happy & Healthy" by Jeanine Amapola

Personally, I have not listened to this podcast yet because it was just released last week, but Jeanine is a YouTuber that I have been following for the past couple of months. She is a lifestyle, faith, health, and fitness YouTuber who has been an inspiration to me as I have began watching her videos. Jeanine is positive and upbeat with a passion for helping others. She uses her own personal experiences and turns it into advice for her listeners. Listening to someone else's experiences that we can connect with our own lives can be meaningful and very inspiring as we continue to grow.

4. Transformation Church

Pastor Michael Todd brings the heat with nearly every sermon that he does. I have been listening to his series called "Relationship Goals Reloaded" and it is absolutely game-changing. Recently, he released his book titled, "Relationship Goals" which ended up being a top bestseller several weeks in a row. Pastor Mike is energetic and enthusiastic throughout his whole sermon. He is passionate about what he is preaching which is why I love listening to him. He uses personal experiences as he preaches and connects that with what God is teaching him. If you enjoy listening to sermons, I recommend Transformation Church.

5. "For the Girl" with Mackenzie Baker and MacKenzie Wilson

Mac and Kenz are two girls in their mid twenties that use this podcast to talk about faith, relationships, and life. It's basically all things girls. This podcast is partnered with Delight Ministries, so faith does play a big part in it. These girls are down-to-earth and hilarious. Sometimes, I will be walking around with headphones in as I listen and will start laughing because of their lighthearted humor. Their advice has helped me and has helped me realize that I am not alone in certain areas of my life. This podcast is for young women. Personally, I love their podcasts on relationships whether that be romantically or in friendships. I have found them to be relatable and inspiring.

6. "Truth for your Twenties" by Katie Bulmer

Your 20's are tough years. These are the years where we learn how to "adult", how to finance, establish relationships, and make a living for ourselves. There is so much to figure out and sometimes we don't even know where to start. Katie Bulmer is a mentor that invites 20-year old guests onto her podcast to answer questions about navigating through our 20's. Katie is willing to talk about the tough topics and provide advice in a loving manner that we all need to hear, especially in our 20's.

Each podcast can be found on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Sister | Brother Style - Word Press

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?
