There are tons of individuals in the world who have been inspirational to us all in one way or another; for the Hispanic community, that influential person is none other than the Queen of Tejano herself, Selena Quintanilla-Perez. This past March marked 21 years since Selena's death, but her legacy still continues on. In some shape or form, you are able to attribute a lot of your inspiration to her, so here is a list of how the Queen of Tejano influenced many of us...

She showed us to be proud of who we are and where we come from, and to love ourselves unconditionally no matter how we look or how much money we have. Living is beautiful enough for every human.

Enjoy all aspects of life, and remember to just have fun. Laugh like there's no tomorrow. Dance like there is no one watching. Sing at the top of your lungs as if you're the only one here.

No matter the fame or the accomplishments, she reminded us to stay kind and humbled. It's not always just about talent, sometimes it's just the type of person that you are that people will remember.

In some way we were all our own version of trendsetters. From men to women, short to tall, skinny to chunky, everyone has their unique way of showing themselves and who they are.

For a lot of people, her story of how she learned Spanish inspired many to learn it as well. Though she could sing in Spanish, she could not speak it. She later learned which inspired many to do the same.

She taught us to follow our dreams, no matter how long the road may be. The only thing that matters is that we take the time and make the choice to achieve them. Anything is possible, but you have to want it.

Selena will forever be an icon. Her talent, charisma, humility, and strength to rise to the top is just a few things we remember her by today. She is a household name in the latino community, and she is our "Queen B" but instead we know her better as "Reina de la Cumbia." We admire everything she put into making that industry what it is today, and overall we love her. Whether it's on the radio, at a party, in the car, or just conversation, Selena Quintanilla-Perez will forever remain.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
