Have you ever wondered what goes on in the heads of people around you? What if we had voices in our heads that could tell us? The movie "Inside Out" personifies these voices and feelings in our heads, and it's so applicable and interesting that I think it's the best movie made in 2015, and here's why.
1) It applies to everyone. Emotions are what makes us human. We feel a full range of things, from happiness to anger to sadness. This movie adds humor while also tugging at the heartstrings to remind us that we all feel the same things.
2) It's pretty scientifically accurate. Pixar does significant research before making a movie, and knowing very little about the mind, I learned a good bit from this movie. I spoke to a few psychology majors, and they said that the information given in "Inside Out" is pretty accurate, which I thought was pretty cool.
3) The cast is hilarious. Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, Bill Hader, and Phyllis Smith. What more could you ask for?
4) It teaches kids that sadness is an okay emotion to have. Sadness and Joy are the two main characters. Without spoiling anything, Sadness develops throughout the movie, and eventually the emotions see the goodness that Sadness brings to their person. And Sadness is plain adorable.
5) It shows that losing yourself breeds growth long term. Even though Riley lost many of her personality "islands," she gained everything and more in the long run.
