Anyone that knows me knows how much I enjoy traveling. I’ve been blessed enough to go to a few places in my lifetime and each time that I travel the trips seem to get better and better. On all of my trips I have found that there are a few ways to make them something amazing.
1. Go with people that make you happy
Whether it’s your family or your friends, go on a trip with people that are going to make your experience great. Traveling with your family can be a fun family vacation and you can hang out with the people you see every day in a new light. Maybe your parents have desk jobs, who knew they could be so much fun at a resort with a water slide? Maybe your sibling is constantly stressed out from school, who would have thought that they could just spend an entire day lounging out by the pool? When it comes to taking a trip with your friends, you get to see them in an environment that you aren’t used to. We often do the same things over and over with our friends at home, but when you take them out of that home environment it can open both your and your friends’ eyes to new and amazing things!
2. Have a sense of adventure
Make sure that you go on your trip with a sense of adventure; be ready to find all the cool things that are out there. You never know what’s going to happen when you travel, and it’s best to go into things with an open mind. Don’t be afraid of getting lost, sometimes that can be a part of the traveling magic. There are always going to be people willing to help you, and the more that you are ready for an adventure when you travel; the more positive you will be about everything that happens while you’re away from home.
3. Don’t plan your trip down to the minute
No matter where you go, there are always going to be tons of things to do on your trip; but that doesn’t mean that you should try to jam pack your schedule. Sometimes you just need to go with the flow and explore your surroundings; you never know what cool things you might find just from walking around for a little while. There will obviously be some places or activities that you already know you definitely want to hit, but make sure to leave some leisure and explore time.
4. Take pictures
I know that we live in a time where technology is prominent, so use it to your advantage! Take tons of pictures wherever you go, and not just selfies. While you are beautiful and definitely a sight to behold, you want to remember the incredible place that you’re visiting. Take pictures of the people you’re traveling with, the new people you meet, your surroundings, and even your food if you think it’s cool or different. Pictures are a great keepsake, and make sure to print out your favorites and stick them in a photo album, in a scrapbook, or even just on your wall. That way, you’ll remember the trip for years to come.
5. Get at least one souvenir
As great as pictures can be, it’s also nice to buy one thing that you can keep from your trip that you can use. It’s a great way to start a collection and keep your memories at the same time. You can collect just about anything when you’re traveling like keychains, postcards, shot glasses (21+), flags from the country you visit if it’s a foreign land, and much more. Having a collection like that can make it even easier to remember your trips, just by looking at the collection you’ve started. Plus it’s fun to go and pick out something to add to your collection.
6. Get out of your comfort zone!
Vacations are supposed to be fun, so make sure you get out of your comfort zone! Don’t go on vacation only to sit there and do the same things and eat the same things that you do at home. Go out there and give yourself an experience worth remembering, Try a new food that you normally wouldn’t try, no one is saying that you have to like it, but then you have a story to tell about the time that you tried [insert weird food here], or the time that you went exploring and got lost in a new city. Getting out of your comfort zone every once in a while is great for mind and body, it can help you overcome fears, and maybe find a new food or activity!
So go get out of your comfort zone and have an adventure with your friends and family this vacation. Summer is the time for traveling and having fun, so get out there and have the trip of a lifetime! Oh, and don’t forget to take lots of pictures!
