Growing up I was never into wearing makeup. I didn't know what was the right kind to buy, there are 50 different options when you go to the store and how I am supposed to know which will be the one that makes my skin looks like a new born babies? I also had no idea how to correctly apply makeup so whenever I did wear it I probably ended up looking something like this:
This year has been a big change for me in that I am really into wearing make-up now. It's not because I don't think I look nice without it or that I am trying to impress anyone. I like feeling girly and makeup isn't something I have ever indulged in before. Plus I spend way to much time on YouTube and started getting jealous of the girls in the Buzzfeed LadyLike videos. I know I probably won't ever develop makeup skills like Saf or Devon but I hope to one day.
As I have further dallied into the world of makeup I have discovered how expensive it can be. Sorry Kylie, but seriously, why does your makeup have to cost $30 or more? I work two jobs and am a full-time college student. I have things like groceries, rent, gas to pay for so I always feel super guilty when I buy makeup. This is some makeup I found that I really like and doesn't empty my pocket too much.
1. Makeup Revolution Eyeshadow Palettes
There are a number of different palettes offered by Makeup revolution including matte and more shimmery types. Yes, it would be nice to have a Naked eyeshadow palette but Revolution only costs $7 compared to Naked's $52. I love the colors in Revolution's palettes and they blend easily. Also check out their contour palettes and eyebrow kits, which are also ridiculously cheap but excellent products.
2. Physician's Formula Touch of Glow Foundation
I've tried Cover Girl's foundation before but it always looked weird on my skin and left a residue of some sort. Physician's Formula's foundation feels like I have nothing on yet provides great coverage. It does cost around $15 dollars but compared to other foundations that can cost as much as $40 dollars the price is worth it.
4. Wet N' Wild Brushes
There are some makeup brushes out there that cost more than the makeup, which I think is insane. These may not be the top of the line brushes out there but I think that they work well and they only cost $3.
5. Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter
I am relatively new to the highlighter game myself, thanks to another LadyLike video where the ladies were trying out the "Nontouring" look. I have tried out a couple of different highlighters and this one by Makeup Revolution has been my favorite so far, it costs around $6 at Ulta Beauty. In the future, I want to try Sephora's Illuminating Primer which costs $15.
6. Makeup Revolution Velvet Lip Lacquer
I love wearing a bold lip, particularly if it's a dark brown or purple. This Lip Lacquer lasts a long time and shows up really well. The only grievance I have is against myself because I still suck at applying lipstick and there is no room for error with darker lipsticks. Get it from Ulta Beauty for $5.
7. Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick
Seriously cannot say enough awesome things about this lipstick. It lasts well over 12 hours, through coffee, water bottles, and food. It doesn't dry out my lips and compared to Kylie's lipstick Revlon's Ultimate only costs $9.99.
8. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream
I know that NYX's mega sticks and Butter Lipsticks are all the rage right now but these should be too. Check out this LadyLike video where they test out the lip cream.
