Lately it’s been extremely cold outside, and I know I’m not the only one out there who feels like they’re freezing 24/7. I’ve always been a naturally cold person. I’ve even worn sweaters in July in Florida because I was cold to the touch. That’s just how I’ve always been. So, weather like this can take a real toll on my body. Finding ways to stay warm that don’t increase your electric bill can be hard, but here’s a few I’ve found that help any day.

1. Wear layers

This one may seem obvious, but I take it to a whole new extreme. Invest in a few nice pairs of thermal leggings, some tank tops and long sleeve shirts, and some really good fuzzy socks. Combine all of these things together and you’ll never be cold again. You may feel a little bulky from wearing like five layers of clothing, but I’d rather be bulky than frozen.

2. Keep hot tea and coffee on hand at all times

In my apartment you can always find tea and coffee. Drinking just one cup before and after you go outside will help keep you a bit warmer while you’re in such cold temperatures. And if your house is cold it’ll help keep you warm without cranking up the heat.

3. Burn a candle

This one may seem a little crazy, but I promise it works. Whether you keep your favorite candle in your bathroom, next to your bed, or in your living room, lighting up one of these guys on cold days will not only make you feel cozier and comforted, but it’ll also make you feel like your place is a little bit warmer. The presence of a nice little flame, especially with a nice warm scent, will bring light and warmth back into your home.

4. Cover your windows

I hate doing this one strictly because it makes the entire place dark, which keeps me unmotivated and lazy. However, covering all of your windows and shoving a blanket or towel at the base of your outside doors will automatically bring the heat up a couple of degrees. It’ll block out a lot of the cold air that may be creeping its way into your house and keep all of the warm air in.

5. Take a hot bath

This is the best. On days when you feel like you just can’t seem to get warm, run yourself a nice hot bath. If you want bubbles, add bubbles. Need some candles? Light some up! But a nice bath with the water as hot as it can go will warm you up faster than anything else and you’ll feel nice and relaxed at the end.

The weather may be starting to warm back up a little bit, but this is Indiana and you never know what to expect tomorrow. These tips should help you to stay safe and warm... outside and in.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
