In My Next 2 Years

"Arriving at one goal is the starting point to another."-John Dewey

There's a very well-known country song out there about a country artist who reflected on the past 30 years of his life, and creates goals and aspirations for himself to reach within the next 30 years. The song I am referring to, if you have not guessed it yet, is My Next Thirty Years by Tim McGraw. Like Tim McGraw, I will also be more or less creating goals and aspirations for the next 2 years of my life. 30 years into the future is a bit too far to predict, so why not make some goals for my last year(s) of my college career?

1. Secure at least one E-Board Position in Pi Kappa Phi

2. Secure at least one E-Board Position in Lambda Alpha Epsilon

3. Absolutely stop procrastinating

4. Cut the fast-food down to no more than once or twice per week

5. Participate a lot more in most, if not all of my classes

6. Finish my SSD courses (you military folk will recognize these wonderful three syllables)

7. Participate in American Ninja Warrior at least once

8. End a semester and/or year with Straight A's

9. Land a stable internship in an area I would actually like to work in

10. Not spend so much time on my phone, and spend more time reading

11. Become casted in at least two more shows here at WIU (At least 1 Mainstage Production)

12. Grow closer with each and every single one of my brothers

13. Learn about my family's history

14. Wear a (close to) authentic Captain America costume for Halloween

15. Spend more time with my family

16. Own my very own car

17. Land a decent job in Macomb while attending school here

18. Have some sort of stable(ish) income for rent payments, groceries, etc.

19. Become a Diamond Coach for Beachbody

20. Grow more confident in my vocals and dancing

21. Secure a position on SGA (Student Government Association)

21 goals, since I just turned 21. But hey, hopefully I'll be here next year making 22 more as life goes on.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
