As I woke up a couple days ago, my Facebook feed was filled with outraged posts regarding the 2016 elections. It is apparent that for most individuals their candidate did not win the presidential elections. I have never placed myself in the front row of politics even though I have always had a view. The amazing liberties we were born with allows us to speak freely and opening which many countries unfortunately are not privileged to have. Rather than focusing on my own political opinions, I wanted to remember what our nation was founded on. God.

It is apparent that our American history was founded on Christian ideology. Our founding fathers remind us of this as it is evident in their speeches, documents, and even our currency. "In God We Trust." I am sure the aforementioned phrase is familiar to to us, and for most of us we see it daily on the bills we pay with. In times of opposition, division, and struggle we need to remind ourselves of what this country was originally rooted in. Here are some verses to remind us that in times like this we place our trust in God.

1. "Better to take refuge in the LORD than to put one's trust in mortals." Psalm 118:8

For some it may be difficult to place their trust in the president elect, but in the bible it states it is better to place your trust in the Lord than man. He has promised us many time in the bible that He has our best interests at heart sometimes we may not understand He plans and intentions. However, He tells us that he will NOT harm us but to prosper us.

2. "Behold I am with you always, even until the end of the age." Matthew 28:20

In Matthew 28:20, Jesus tells the disciples that He is with them always. This is something we tend to forget when things get difficult or do not go our way. We begin to feel alone like He abandoned us. However, it is the complete opposite He is with us always even until the end of the age. How remarkable is that?

It often reminds me of the Footprints in the Sand Poem. The person was troubled because he always noted two pairs of footprints in the sand, but when times got difficult he only noticed one and felt like the Lord had left him. But the Lord responded, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you. Never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you." It brings me goosebumps thinking about how true this verse is.

3. "Fear of others becomes a snare, but the one who trusts in the LORD is safe." Proverbs 29:25

Fear of others becomes a trap, and is wrong. Rather than focusing on that we should place our trust in the LORD. When we place our trust in him we are safe.

As we look forward to the future, we should recognize these familiar words , "one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all" and allow them to resonate within us. In these times as we get ready to embark on adapting to a new president let us not forget it is In God We Trust.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
